Download Photoshop Raw, it's a free plug in that comes with Photoshop and its faster for quick adjustments. In CC you can always do an adjustment layer in Curves you will find the eyedropper their for white balance.

With a Nikon D7100 you need to be in Evaluative/Matrix. Metering Mode. You only go to spot metering when you have a bright background behind the subject. Manual or Shutter Priority, either one works for sports. Shutter speed needs to be above 1/1000. To stop a bat and ball you need to be at least 1/1600. Their is nothing wrong with auto ISO in sports with constant changing lighting from clouds and shadows. Where you need to pay close attention in sports is the amount of focal point you use. You always want to use the minimum amount of points necessary to lock on and stay locked on. You can inadvertently focus and meter say a wall of something instead of your subject. Also you should be in the Continuous-servo AF mode or (AF-C) when shooting sports. Hope this helps coming from a Canon Media Sports Shooter.

Not true in High School Sports. Each state makes its own rules. In Texas the AD has the final decision for the school you are shooting.

Would skip the middle lineup and pickup a 5Diii, 5Div or a 6Dii. You will see things in a different light.
