Thanks for asking this question. I will also be going to Las Vegas in early February.

Don't know if anyone mentioned Calico Basin, about a mile east of the entrance to Red Rock Canyon Nat'l Park, beautiful location!

Also El Dorado Canyon is off 165, a nice side trip if you're headed to the Dam, drive to the end of the road about 4 miles past the mine and you're at the river
http://www.eldoradocanyonminetours.com/

The Dam is great, there's a (very high) walkover bridge to shoot from or you can go out on the Dam during the day, or in the parking lot at night. (no people at night!!)

Valley of Fire, definitely!

Spring Mountain Ranch, beautiful in winter, got the best shots of my life there in January. It's just a few miles west of Red Rock Canyon... So many wonderful places to shoot.

Of course there's the strip, neon, neon, neon, beautiful hotels and interesting sights...

Hope both of you have a great trip!

Fingernail moon against a pink sunset sky then took a drive over the bridge to catch sunset on the Indian River Lagoon with a bonus, the moon and Venus.

Have you been there before? It is a wonderful place to take pictures. I really recommend going to Bryce Canyon also. Thank you for the nice comment!

This will be my first trip to UT, we plan on spending a couple of days at Zion, Bryce, Arches, etc... We went to the Grand Canyon in October, that was amazing! Can't wait to see UT!

We've had several days of ground fog which has been a bit unusual. This afternoon it lifted as a storm is just moving into the southwest.

Beautiful~ everything about it is perfect!

Great shot! Isn't it great when wild life pauses (or poses!) long enough to take a perfect picture? Very beautiful animal!

Welcome to the site :-)

I can't believe I didn't click download when I re-posted them for bcheary.... Nothing even close to perfection here!!

Thanks for the compliment!!

very nice photo ...... one small nit.. there is no catch light in the birds eyes..always focus on eyes..get a tad of eye light........nice sharp focus......... and presto you have a great photo.....keep trying.....easier said than done......i've been at it four years and have 1 good photo in 35,000...but it's fun!!!!

Thanks for the advice, now if only I can apply it. I tried to shoot for the eyes one other time on a moving target (elk) and it was a total fail! Is it possible to have eye light when you have no sunlight and/or at dusk? Would shooting at the eyes with that kind of light really make a big difference?

I'm really new, ready to learn and improve, that's why I'm here :D :D

I've been using Photoshop Elements 12. I like it and still have a long way to go before I know how to use it really well. Adobe programs are deep! I would also really like to have Lightroom 5 but my computer's operating system doesn't support it, so I'm going to wait until I get a new computer for that.

There are many members here who use a lot of different programs and they get great results with them. The NIK software is good. That's another one I can't use until I change computer operating system. Right now I'm just trying to get better at PSE12.

Thanks! I have an older desktop so I'll probably be unable to support anything "new". Now I have a starting point :D
