Going to Vegas in February. Can you recommend good photo sites?
Depending on what your looking for Red Rock State Park is always spectacular, and many areas of Death Valley can be reached in a days' tour.
February is a nice time to visit as it isn't so hot. Death Valley is a popular tourist spot but is still very remote. Please follow all common sense precautions and back country travelsafety tips.
Enjoy yourself, and gamble so the Nevadans can continue to not pay taxes.
:D
Look up little Finland on the Internet the first photo is from that area. It's out of town a ways. Second photo fro ET highway
There is red rock canyon it's a lot closer to town to the west
Road to little finland
ET highway
Valley of fire Is about an hour north.
its Vegas.....probably anything
Omg...so many photo ops...everwhere! Many of the hotels have gardens, aquariums, lions and tigers, the gondolas at the Venetian, the columns and architecture at Caesars, and of course the Bellagio fointains. Then there is valley of fire and red rock canyons or you can drive up towards Mt Zion NP in Utah. Also if you play golf, many of the courses have beautiful scenery surrounding them, not to mention the wildlife. No matter where you are in Vegas, there is something beautiful or interesting to photograph.
When we go to Vegas, one day is spent walking into nearly every hotel on the strip. Lots of photo ops there. Then we take day trips to the surrounding parks and desert. And get in a round or two of golf. At night we gamble or go to a show. We have not been in a long time...need to get it on our schedule again.
Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I am getting excited.

SJ, jerry has compiled an extensive list of sites in and around LV. PM him and have him give you a link.
Have fun

You can go north on either U.S. 95 to the Ghost town of Goldfield or 93 North to the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. You can go west to Death Valley or southwest to the Mojave National Preserve. There are a lot of things in Nevada, California, Utah, & Arizona to do that are less than an hour from Las Vegas.
Thanks SS. Jerry sent me a great list.

I had a great time shooting Hoover Dam at 1:00 am. Had the whole dam thing to myself and Mr Obama left the lights on for me. Of course that was in July. Dress warm and bring your tripod.
