There is limited information on the new R7 out on the web since it was just announced. I'm looking to for opinions on the viability of replacing my 7D Mk II with the R7. Based on the marketing hype it appears to be of rugged construction with a rich feature set. Especially the focusing system and frame rate. The camera will be used mainly for action/sports/wildlife. I will use my 5D4 for other stuff. At this time I do not need any alternative brand recommendations. Thanks in advance for your comments.

I'm going to wait until it's out and see what everyone says about it. The only thing I don't like about it is that the controls aren't like the 7DII that I'm used to. Getting used to a different camera isn't easy. But I do like a lot of the new features including the small price. Canon was smart to release all the full frame R series cameras first because many of the people that shot with the APS-C bodies bought them and won't be buying the new mirrorless APS-C less expensive body's. Personally, I like the APS-C bodies for better reach with my long lens which means less cropping or smaller crops.

Before I buy one I need to find out what the buffer size is. It only uses SD cards, so I don't know how it can write fast enough to keep up with the burst rate.

I love the articulating screen. I have always wished that my 7D II had one. I have always been Leary of them because they seem fragile. I can only imagine what it would cost if the little ribbon cable for the screen goes bad. Also, I see that the dial for the mode selector doesn't seem to have a lock button unless that other button next to it some how locks it. I'll need to see if that is the case. If not, that was one of the problems with the original 7D. It's easy to accidentally bump that dial and wind up in Tv instead of Av mode and that's a real pisser.

Probably a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher.

It helps to tell us where you were when you took the picture because most books tell us the "range" of the bird.

Certainly not one of my better posts here but at least the lighting is interesting. Gave her my white fabric and she ran with it. An example of bad developing in my Archive of Olde PlusX film circa 1980 or so.

I just keep doing as you do but with my cell phone which is my only line. I got rid of the land line at least 10 years ago. The only reason most people keep a land line is to call 911 and they will have an exact fix on your location.

Same thing happened to me about 3 months ago. Had to have 3 sets of lumbar injections in 3 discs. It really helped this time. I've had it done 2 other times with no relief. But they only concentrated on one disc. This time they injected all 3 of my bulging discs and it gave me instant relief.

I have been using Sandisk and Sony high speed SD memory cards without any problems for years. Don't know how does Lexar compare.

Any previous experience?

Luxar are very good cards. I've been mainly using them since 2010. Their CF cards are fast and I have one of their card readers too and it's very fast. I've only seen on go bad and that wasn't one of mine. It was a friends card and Luxar sent him a new card. If you are going to use UDMA 7 cards, you should use a UDMA 7 card reader.

I didn't notice it until you pointed it out. My eyes must have been on the model. She's quite stunning.

Okay, I just looked through my posted folder and I posted a cropped version of this shot in my post Nude no. 089. I apologize for the duplicate post. The reason I keep a posted folder is just so this type of thing doesn't happen. Oops.

It's ok if it's a different crop. She's a little on the hot side, (exposure) other than that she's a great model.

When someone asks a question on this forum, all of the answers are usually just a matter of opinion. To people responded to my opinion and question where I get the facts on how neither a DSLR or a Mirrorless camera is durable when dropped, I said that the Mirrorless doesn't have a mirror so therefore that can't be damaged since it has none. Common sense huh?

Well folks, it's common sense. There are many things that exist that will break if dropped. Even if you drop a car from enough height it will break something.

People act as though to have an opinion you need to be involved in some kind of scientific test organization that tests products. Even if I did work testing the effects of dropping a mirrorless camera verses a DSLR, people would question the validity. i.e. what height did you drop it? what angle was it held? did you test every product being made today and yesterday? How hard was the surface? what was the temperature of the lab? what was the relative humidity? etc etc. I could go on ad infinitum.

So give us a break on our opinions. It's just one persons opinion coupled with a little common sense.

I prev. mentioned the Trachtenberg system of mathematics using shortcuts... Here is a simple one I really like.

Multiply any 2 digit number ending in a 5 by itself... i.e. 25x25 or 75x75.

Answer will ALWAYS end in 25 and first part of answer will be the original number x the next highest number.

example. 85x85 8x9=72 and ends in 25 SO, answer is 7225...

example. 45x45 4x5=20 and ends in 25 SO, answer is 2025...

The entire Trachtenberg system is full of little shortcuts like this. Enjoy...

For you guys that know a lot about math and such, I was asked to figure out these sequences of numbers. One of them I still can't get. Can you help me? I'll give you all the examples I was given. The last one I couldn't figure out:

1. 8 _ 12 14
2. 23 26 30 35 _
3. 18 17 15 _ 8
4. _ 20 26 38 62
5. 5 _ 11 19 35
6* 70 _ _ 84
