I switched from shutter button focus to back button focus (BBF). The only way to focus is with the back button, the shutter is only a release now. I want to switch back to disabling back button focus to shutter button focus (reason is not important!). I have read, I have watched videos, but no go. Can someone please help me on this issue?

Most (if not all) DSLR cameras have an option for shooting picture sizes, like large, medium, or small. Making sure that I keep all things being equal (same lens, same focal length, etc.) will I lose image quality (clarity and detail) between taking a photo in the large size versus taking same photo in small size? I am not talking about cropping.

I have a question concerning megapixels in a camera. I hope this question hasn't been asked before, I hate getting raked over the coals because I ask a question that has been previously addressed, taking up 5 pages of answers..... but here goes. If I have two cameras, the D750 with roughly 24 megapixels and a D810 with roughly 36 megapixels. I set the cameras up to take the same photo, say of a blue heron about 20 yards off. I make sure i use the same lens, the same focal length, same shutter speed, same aperture, same ISO, I make sure everything is the same with both cameras. Will the D810, with more megapixels give a sharper picture, show greater detail in the feathers? Will I have to pixel-peep to notice the difference in greater detail?

jradose, you asked a question 8 months ago and got 6 pages of comments. You raised the same issue a few days ago. You were reminded of that and asked if you had acted on the suggestions made in your earlier topic.

I'm guessing the poster you refer to is one who is very knowledgeable and helpful but has a sarcastic streak. Sarcasm is hurtful. I get that. But, with all due respect, I think that in this case you're overreacting.

Good, everyone has the right to express his/her opinion, but he/she does not have the right to dictate what other's opinion should be. The person I am referring to may be superior to me, but, he is inferior to me when it comes to congeniality. His "mightier than thou" attitude stinks to high heaven. If he doesn't like my posts (and you also), find a way to block me and my posts, then you won't have to put up with deplorable ole me! So, STUFF IT!!

The person to whom I think you are referring is one of the most knowledgeable people on this site. I have benefitted from his help and expertise.

He may well be, but he doesn't have to be so condescending. He is a jerk, many times with his responses to me, I don't like jerks!

I am losing interest in this site. I still love this site, but, it is becoming demeaning to me, and, IMHO, other photogs. There are certain people on here who seem to enjoy pointing out how others are inferior to them. Seems, every time I make a post, there are those who say, "Didn't we just use 5 pages to discuss that topic last week?" I am sorry that my memory bank is so inferior to their memory bank, it is not fair of me to subject them to such low life mentality. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!! So, I will have to do some "low life" thinking if I want to stay on this site, and be subjected to such humility. This is just one example of subtle put-downs that appear on here, and some put-downs are not so subtle. No, I am not looking for sympathy, just stating a fact. And I really don't care if I pissed some of you off, I DON'T CARE!

Didn't we discuss this exact same question for 6-pages on March 8, 2021?

Wasn't the best suggestion that you take your lens(es) and your tripod and create a testbed of images you then review on your computer at their 1:1 pixel level details? Then you can make your own decision. What did you discover via this testing since March 8, 2021?

Sorry, I don't have a super, super memory bank as you must have. Please forgive this obvious inferior quality I have, I will not bother you again with silly, repetitious questions.

I have read numerous articles, and watch numerous videos about not using F/22, due to diffraction, claiming to not shoot smaller than f/16. But, Bryan Petersen, whom I respect very much, says he often shoots at F/22, or even higher if camera allows. Wondering what other Hoggers think about it?

Wondering which will drain the camera battery faster when taking a casual stroll with your camera. Is it better to never turn your camera off (it will go to sleep, I know), or turn the camera off until you are ready to shoot. I know, the best scenerio is to carry a spare, fully charged battery, but that doesn't answer my question.

Another solution is don't buy Nikon.

I really don't know you, so I have to rely on instinct. Sometimes, you put posts on here that seem to be quite informative, then, at times, you ruin your image (in my eyes!) when you make statements like you did in this post. I would think you would know that Canon and Nikon both produce outstanding gear. I find it distasteful for anyone to so blatantly put down Nikon and, in effect, Nikon users. I may not be the awesome photographer you are, and I surely am not the "all knowing, intelligent person" you like to portray. But, I would not put down any camera brand or any user of a camera brand as you have done repeatedly. I put very little faith in what you say anymore. Oh, and by the way, I started out my "hobby" of photography with Canon gear. I switched to Nikon, and never looked back, I am perfectly satisfied with Nikon, understanding that I will never reach your stature as a photographer. Have a good day, Sir.

Some time ago, I posted a comment about the Nikon D500, and I was not too positive about the camera. Since then, I have been shooting with the D500-, I have learned some ins and outs about it, and my impression has changed, it is an awesome camera. I have been a D600 man, but I rarely shoot with it now. Here are some shots I got recently with it, using the nikkor 300mm F4 PF VR lens, all shots are hand held. I love the D500!
