Awesome video.

I can think of one thing even a bit more gnarly than what's shown in that video - doing it at night...in driving rain! Yeeee-haawww! (Of course, it's hard to get a very good video of that...)

The true meaning behind liquid courage. Take all the guys along for that ride, Jack, Jim, Johnny, and Jose.

I find it interesting how so many posts lately have spun into the gun control issue.

Here are a few things I agree on without question or at least would like to comment on.

1. Most of these shooters that walk into public places or schools end up shooting themselves in the end. The good out of that? It saves us the taxpayers trial money, and paying for years of incarceration of the offender. The loss of defenseless lives is a terrible thing so please don't think I am playing light on that, but the "shooter" taking their own after such an event is cowardice but does save $$$$.

2. Fine we take all the rights away from the law abiding citizens, or we arm them all. Most of the guns used in these types of crimes are obtained illegally including stealing them from friends and family. The huge majority of the crimes are not committed by registered owners. And yes gun owners should be held accountable for any haphazard care and custody of their weapon(s).

There is no simple solution, you want a gun ask on the street, you want pot ask on the street, you want crack ask on the street, you want sex ask on the street, you can get just about anything you want on the street if you are fearless and have the money. So how do you regulate the street? I believe if one can find that solution a lot of these problems would be greatly reduced.

So now I offer up these questions. I grew up in the late 50's early sixties...

, is it the immediacy of how we get the news now that makes it appear frequency is greater?

I played outside with my friends rain or shine, is it the video games out now that reduce interpersonal contact that is a cause?

Is it the system pushing our kids through the school system now passing or not part of the cause?

Is it the outlawing of being able to correct/punish our children in fear of being accused of child abuse?

Is it the removal of corporal punishment from our schools?

Is it the removal of the Pledge of Allegiance from our schools in fear of offending someone?

Is it the?.... The list could go on and on, I bet some of you could add to this list.

I am just curious to see what all of you think, you have an idea of what I think based on a very limited number of questions out of dozens I could have asked.

A quick loosely based fact and comment

Each inmate costs the taxpayers $30-60k annually depending on location.

What is the salary of teachers, firefighters, police officers, counselors, etc. I believe depending on part time and full time status they are about the same as the annual cost to "CARE" for our convicted.

Again, if this latest guy had been sent to meet his maker post conviction, he would have provided employment for a valuable member of our society.

Enough of my rant

It's Christmas Day,

Peace on Earth and Goodwill To All

I just have to chime in again

First, my prayers got out to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy and all other tragedies similar to this.

Second, this tragedy would not have happened if the self proclaimed, the court convicted, the system released individual that became a repeat offender had been given his right to meet his maker after the first trial and conviction.

Those that say it is not our place to play God, I humbly agree with you. We would not be playing God, we would be presenting such an individual in front of God, where God makes the heaven or hell decision.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but how many innocent people need to be taken from their loved ones by such deviants.

I could go on, but I see no reason as my opinion has been stated be it right, wrong or indifferent.

Peace to All, this holiday season.

Love your fellow human, or leave my earth.

Merry Christmas

This turned out way longer than I had intended.

First and foremost, no family anywhere in the world should have to suffer a loss of a family member such as those from this most recent shooting. Or any other form of mass killing.

As for me, I presently own no guns, however, I was raise with them, was taught proper gun safety, and they were part of my life for 40 years. I am not against the right to bear arms, I am not against having background checks done as a matter of a screening protocol. I believe that it is fairly common knowledge that in the US a gun can be had through a number of not so proper ways.

That being said, I could not read all of the posts here, but there was a wide range of opinions from the US and abroad. I have a "Personal" opinion on the laws in the US, along with our Constitution.

Our Constitution is over 200 years old, our laws get modified slightly, we have Case Law that gets cited during trials. Law abiding citizens suffer personally, emotionally, and financially as a result of those that choose to run on the opposite of the law. Currently, if a person is arrested for a crime, I will use murder as an example, I will use a gun as the weapon in this example. The evidence is a clear video, eye witness statements, DNA evidence. The video shows a crime/shooting where the offender is clearly identifiable, witnesses accurately ID this person and what they said, DNA is left at the scene where the offender broke a glass case. So, here is my question/statement.

With all of this, why is it we hold a lengthy trial? A trial that costs us the tax payers a ton of money, even more if the offender is indigent and we provide him/her with their counsel at no cost to them. Then, a jury of his/her peers finds them guilty, they are sentenced to life in some states and death in others. There new accomidations are not the best but, the convict is provided 3-meals a day, medical care, exercise facilities. While outside we have a whole society that looks the other way at the homeless, but before you blast me at that statement, we have some people that have truly fallen on hard times and are trying to pull themselves back up, we have veterans that are on the streets with needs I mean after all they did serve our country, lets put all that money here. Sorry I got side tracked, then the convict has appeal rights, stays of execution, etc. back to my whole point.

With modern technology and indisputable facts, why do we waste so much money on the legal system now, especially regarding violent crimes and criminals. If, and only if our Constitution and laws were amended to reflect the present, and violent criminals or those even pondering the thought knew that with out a doubt their death would be imminent, and immediate upon sentencing will violent crime rates drop. Again, it's only my opinion, I am not in the legal field, not a convict, but I am exercising my freedom of speech.

Peace to all, and have a safe, happy, and enjoyable holiday.

My prayers are with those that have suffered such tragic losses both here and abroad.
