Hello, computer gurus. Well, I've been trying to get some pic's I took with my phone, no, not an Iphone, just a simple mobile phone, to my elements organizer for 3 days now.
Pics were downloaded to the Verizon "On line album', from there I moved them over to "My Documents", (windows 7) opened a file, gave it a name, but lo and behold, I just can select them with elements so I can work with them. Does anyone know what is about this file that I can't select it with my PShop?
Thanks for your help1
Monte
Can you not just 'Bluetooth' them from your phone to the PC?

Can you email them to yourself? That's what I usually do.
Since you don't have an iphone, everything should be compatible with a non Apple, Windows based computer. I just connect the USB to my phone, plug the other end to the computer, and look for a folder named DCIM. Then copy and paste the jpegs to a folder in My Pictures.
What both Jerry and Don said, I have used both methods.

What is the file extension? By that I mean are they .jpg, .jpeg, .something else. If it is a standard picture type of extension, PS should open it. Maybe in the File - Open dialog, hit the dropdown and see if it will show "all files (*.*)" instead of whatever it defaults to.
Thanks for your advice. I truly don't know what type of file it is, all I know is that PS says it does not recognize it, or something
to that effect.
Hi. I tried that but of course there was no PS listed. I did not try any other selection.
Thanks!
Thanks for the input, problem is I have no idea where to look for a DCIM folder, whatever that is.
I'm sorry but I do not know what you mean by bluetooth them (?)
Thanks for responding!

Does your phone have a Bluetooth function? Check in the phone settings. If so activate it and activate the Bluetooth on your PC. Go to a picture and check options>send>via bluetooth. The phone will search until it 'sees' your PC. Accept this as the pairing device and the picture should go to your 'My pictures' gallery on the PC.
Alternatively do as Jerry suggested Send the picture via Email to yourself and open it on your PC. Good luck

Not all PCs have BlueTooth. Pics are seemingly already on the machine anyway. We need to figure out the file extension to figure out why PS won't like them.

If you merely double click on one of these pictures, what happens?
What is the file size on these? (If it is just 1KB or 2KB, go to my next response)
Depending on your flavor of windows, "Folder Options" may live in different places or be more hidden from the average user.
In XP look for the "Tools" menu at the bottom you'll see "Folder options."
In Win 7 hit the start button and type
folder options and it will show up as something to click on, or look for it in the control panel.
Once you get there, go to the "View" Tab. in the "Advanced settings", scroll down and look for a checked box labeled "Hide Extensions for known file types" - Remove the check mark. Hit the Apply & OK buttons
Now find the folder with the pictures. Notice the name changed from
something to
something.something else. What is that
.something else?
If it did not put an extension on these (if there is no
.something else) maybe rename one of the files from
whatever to
whatever.JPG. Then double click it and see what happens.

If you dragged the picture from a verizon web page to my documents, you may have only made a internet shortcut to the picture. If that is the case, go back to the verizon page, find the picture. Click on the thumbnail there to make it show the full size picture, then right click it and look for "Save Image As..." and save it in My Documents.
This is likely the real fix.
