I just saw the news story. Guy was being booked for domestic violence and wrestled a gun away from a cop and shot 3 of them before they killed the idiot. Hardly a gun control issue for the masses, more of a gun control issue for that cop.

The original post has the solution: have armed and trained teachers in every police station - and every grocery store and department store.
Problem is, we will have to begin paying teachers more, and we can't have that because teachers are employed by the dreaded government.

I disagree with the NRA's solution to the problem, but rather than ridiculing them and LaPierre, I just say: Throw the idea in with the others and, if there's any merit to it, it will survive "the cut". If not, oh well. We don't really need to vilify those who offer their ideas. After awhile, we may have a problem and no one will offer solutions.

Check this one out! The Fayetteville, NC police chief shot herself in the hand with her own gun! How's that for a fine example of putting guns in the wrong hands. People who don't know how to handle them properly!!!!

There wee two BIG boo, boos. Fiest the guy was brought in to the cop house uncuffed. This gave him access to the female officer's weapon and killed her. The other two were wounded.

To all my anti-gun friends after Obama has
taken all our guns and ammo away from us and
there is still more killing going on, other
then another chep joke, what is your solution.
Remember you can't take away our guns, Obama
has them. I will look up the death total of
people killed or injured this Holiday week ends
due to drunk drivers VS gun killings and see if
which on has a lower precentage.
Oh, I forgot, we here to ban guns,we'll bring up
drunk driving another time. Sorry
I'm suprised the terrorist hasn't figured out a
way to use gun killings as a way to remove our
rights to have guns. Sorry to say that with a few
more gun killing(GOD FORBID) here in the US, our
goverment will see to it that this right that we
now have would be taken away. DON'T forget FORT
HOOD.DON'T think ( with the right crazy people
in office) this could never happen here in the U.S.A.
All Joking aside, Just what would you do?

Kudos to you and your comment. Having spent 26 years in law enforcement I can tell you disarming the law abiding public is not the answer. Let us start by having a stable family base where the family homes actually have a responsible mother and father residing there. Ask any investigator to give you an estimate of both parents present in a home where you have juveniles in serious trouble. You"ll be amazed.
With that out of the way, are you a pilot and is that a "Champ" or "Citabria" your seated in?

If you apply for a job in the police department you are subjected to an IQ test. If your score is not low enough your application is rejected. Sounds like a joke but it is true.

The Victoria (Australia not Texas) police recently were issued with new pistols to replace the .38 Smith & Wesson revolvers they had been using for a long time.

The new weapons issued are Colt 40 cal M&P semi automatics.

The Police WEAPONS INSTRUCTOR at the Glen Waverly police training acadamy shot himself in the leg with the new Colt whilst holstering the weapon with his finger still inside the trigger guard.

I guess he was showing his students what not to do.

You could say he was being a good example of a bad example.

Love to know how he would have gone with an Uzi.

Gives the term "friendly fire" a whole... or should that be hole new meaning.

In my experience, the officer in the booking area is unarmed so that when the perp's handcuffs are removed for fingerprinting this wouldn't happen.

Everyone seems to forget that there was an armed guard in Colombine during the shooting. He was credited with saving lives as he moved teachers and children out of the line of fire. He even took some shots at the shooters and turned them away from a group of students.

Having an armed guard did not stop the shooters from following their plan. Making people understand and obey the laws against murder might work.
