You can't. I can go out right now and buy an "assault rifle " in less than an hour off the street with no background check, ID, etc. Just need cash and have to deal with some shady individuals. I can also buy crack, weed, heroin, etc. New stricter gun laws aren't going to accomplish anything except make it harder to protect you and your family. Criminals are criminals because they don't obey the law. If owning a gun is against the law criminals will still have guns. What is so hard to understand? I have mine and will keep them. No matter what the law says. Maybe one day I'll be considered a criminal for wanting to protect myself and family. :thumbup:

My wife and I are downsizing in preparation for retirement and part of that included a move to a smaller town. The gun ownership rate is very high here. Many open carry and many carry concealed. I open carry at times as I don't have my concealed permit yet. I couldn't feel safer whether packing or not and if social order begins to break down with parasitical hordes of looters roaming for victims they will choose somewhere else to inflict their pillaging and rape, somewhere that bans or makes gun ownership difficult if not impossible. This isn't the prime reason we chose this town but it was a factor in the plus column.
