Hi

Was a little windy - there is some lines at 90 degrees to the fern that distracts (from the corner to about half way up the fern)

Still a little windy - not my type of shot

Angles - really like the way the fence leads away across the page and an almost dreamy fashion towards the end ( like the DOF on this)

Just a bolt - great naught kcal feel - shame there wasn't a ships rope with this shallower DOF may have helped be more creative - but is my favourite

The walk way - I don't like this ( nothing against the quality) just the image I can leave

Thanks
Karl
Hi br br Was a little windy - there is some lines... (show quote)

Thanks Karl, I never notice the line until you said something I think it might be a stem that was in front of the fern that was blurred out.

Thanks again for the comments

Had to get out today to try a new lens, the 50mm 1.4 USM, you can rip them apart if you don't like them but let me know what you don't like about them. If you like them let me know what you like about them.

Thanks in advance

I have a Canon 5D3 myself and there are a few things you should know.
Your going to love how fast and responsive this camera is....
That you will need a new Hard drive..
Hoodman have a excellent CF card and one of the fastest out there. The 64Gb card is the one to buy, as it's just too easy to fill up a 32Gb card with RAW Photos. This camera slows down when taking Raw and Jpeg.
What speed cards do you have now ?

Got all new class 10 cards from 32 to 64 gig. I was shocked to see how much they were in price but they say the are everything proof, they better be at 80 to 100 bucks apiece.

Well I got a chance to use the Mark iii for about 2 months and just loved it. The only problem was I had to give it back to my friend and go back to my 20D and 50D which are great cameras but just not the great quilty of the Mark iii.

The good news is my 5D Mark iii is on it's way from Adorama and should be here Thur. afternoon.

I also have to say the people at Adorama are great to deal with and very helpful during my ording process. The only problem I had was they talk to fast for this southern person---LOL.

By the way I am not affiliated in anyway with Adorama just stating the great service I got.

Can't wait untill my Canon 5D Markiii gets here!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are talking Canon speedlites there is a 600ex-et that goes for 600.00 and has a spec. List about as long as your arm. Then you can look at the YN-480 ( I think I am not at a computer I am on my phone ) it has a short spec. list, no bells or cool looking green screens with all your settings showing. Google the the high price one and read about it an then do the low price one, then I think you will see the why the price range

Hi all need a little help. I am looking into getting some studio strobes (not off camera flash) and having a hard time with it because there are so many different ones out there. I don't want the cheapest but don't need the most high priced ones either. I am wanting control of the flash heads maybe down to 1/64th power and looking for 3 of them in a kit.

Any help will be greatful.

All of you have made lots of good suggestion on this and have done what I have done by printing this out to see for yourselves. The bad part is Google has told us that a 800x600 is good for the web, which it is , I would hate to see what you could print with that size.

I think the best suggestion was do not post images to the web if you do not want them copied and printed by others.

Thanks to all for the great suggestions and work,

This is what I thought but when I go to print the photo with my HP 4200 all-in-one and change the size to 8x12 the res. does drop to 40 I think. You can see some problems but not what you talk about, hold photo at arms length and it looks great. This is why I included pic so others could try it or maybe tell me if I am doing something wrong.

So I took the image you marked as Saved for Web Image and opened it in PSE.
Actual size is 400 x 600 pixels. Printed at 8 x 12 inches, that would be at 50 pixels per inch.
Now, I only have 8 1/2 x 11 inches paper, but I did print that one - in B/W on plain paper. Pixelation is definitely visible, most clearly on the while line along the bottom of the dog's eye, but also in his/her coat and along the edge of the snout.
So yes, I can see that you may be concerned about your images being "lifted". Why don't you make the images for the web even smaller, say 1/4 of the above size: 200 x 300 pixels. At 72 ppi, that will give an image on the screen of 2 3/4 x 4 inches (approximately) - large enough to see, not large enough to make a usable print.

Thank you for trying this ,for I thought I was going nuts and doing something wrong. Google says a good web image is 800x600 and o am doing it at 600x400 which means you can get a really good 5x7 photo and maybe even a good 8x10. I will have to try your suggestion of the 300x200 and see how that works. Thanks again

600 pixels on the long side and you can print an 8 x 12?
NOT!
Well, no, let me change that: 600 pixels on the 12 inch side is 50 pixels per inch. You would be able to see every separate pixel. If you could match DMC embroidery floss colours to those pixels you could use the print for a counted cross stitch picture - and it would look pretty darned good.
Otherwise, with 600 pixels, you'd at best get a 3 inch image - larger and the pixels will start to show.

Maybe you could add a watermark to the ones for the web? Then it doesn't matter what size it is, nobody would want to print it

Thanks for the comment but with the way photoshop is today I can take a watermark off in about 15 min. and I not that good at PS like some are. If it is just at the bottom of a photo I can remove it in less time than what it takes my PS to open up---LOL

Even with the long side at 600 pix and 72 res I can still get a good 8x12 photo from that, is that just the way it is or am I not doing something right.

Ok I just can't seem to get this thru my thick head. I am wanting to upload photos of a wedding to the web but don't want just anybody right clicking them and then print them. I know that I have to resize them.

The way I do it is while in PS I go to save for web, then see screen shot below.

The problem, I can still get a good 8x12 image. What am I doing wrong. I also have included the original and the save for web image.

I would say it is because your file is in a psd format and your printer is rendering it to a jpeg before it prints.

Like a couple have said rent before you buy. Why drop a couple of grand on a lens and then always wonder if you should have gone with another lens. I have just rented the 24-70 L 2.8 for less than a 100 bucks and for 5 days.
