In Boston, the North End (Italian) then Durgan Park, Legal Seafood and the Oyster House. Durgan Park is a fine place (sort of, Waitresses have attitude)
Anybody have any comments/knowledge on the Canon EOS Immersion classes offered by Canon?
make sure you do the Berkshires in western MASS. The Mohawk Trail & Quabbin Reservor. This is truly Gods country in the fall. Watch out for the Peepers on the Mohawk.
Wow what a fix! My ignorance is showing here, what is ACR? Thanks
After reading this post and others asking for the originals I actually thought that's what I did. Appears that I should have checked a box that I didn't. So, here they are again with the aforementioned box checked. And for those wondering about my knowledge, I indicated in initial posting that prior to the G12 purchase I just used a P&S and when I got the G12 I was using it as a P&S but then decided it was time to move up. Thats when I thought I might be able to learn how to set the options on the camera. I.E., take a Auto photo look at the Disp then use the same settings to take another photo and do the comparisions. But, when doing the comparision there was no match-up Auto vs manual setting. After reading the discussions I've learned that the basic settings I used from Auto needed some other options turned on/off. Hey its all in the experiencing.
Auto mode
2nd in Manual ISO 800 F-Stop f5
3rd same as 2
First, thanks to all who provided input to my question. Wow, what a group out there. My learning curve is way up there. Most especially on Shutter Speed and ISO. I took a week long 2-hour camera course after purchasing the G12 and came out of there believing that Shutter Speed and ISO were the same. After all the input I now know better. Reading, rather perusing, the G12 manual will probably help on some things, but doubt it will explain why the difference in the Auto vs Manual outcome I had. As for light meter and some of the other suggestions given, I'll be working on these. Hell, I'm retired now, lots of spare time. Thanks to all!
That is exactly what I'm asking. Basically, if the camera is supposedly selecting the best options for taking the photo, why can't I use the same options and get the same picture taken by the camera's selected options? When I took the photos I wasn't too concerned about the fact that they might be washed out etc., actually I thought the camera's selections should have taken that into consideration after all it was making the "best" selections. When I saw the selected options I just determined it was GIGO. But I also thought, ok the photos I took in Manual mode would look exactly like those taken in Auto mode. Not the case, why not?
Shutter speed and ISO, same thing, Yes/No?
Light Metering? What's that? The sun as you can probably see was behind me. There's a circular +/- meter on top left of G12 camera from 0 to +2 on one side 0 to -2 on the other. I think it does some light /darkening but I haven't really been able to see any difference when turning it. And, of course, I did NOT use a flash.
Ive always shot in Auto across the board. Been playing around with a recently purchased G12. I took some pictures using Auto and then decided to look at the Disp of those pictures to determine what the camera thought should be the ISO and F-Stop. Then went into Manual mode and set those settings. The results were quite surprising. No Manual mode picture matched up with what I took in Auto mode. Why not?
Auto mode
Manual mode setting same as Auto 800/f5
3rd same as 2
This fix isn't too bad, but I still take the road trip. Ownership you know......
Good shot. Did he just sit and wait for you to focus on him?
Pinkham is in NH along the Franconia Ridge of the AT. On the Ridge you can see the Presidential Range and with real good eyesight, perhaps the Atlantic. Great hike. During my trek there was a morning mist that made getting to the ridge a bit difficult. Couldn't see where we were going initially. Rock trail markers helped.
