I have downloaded a Nikon Manual Viewer App on my IPad. I have a manual for all of my Nikon products.
Last year I purchased a Nikon 300 F4. My first D lens. Was confused on how to mount it. Have to have aperture ring set to F32. Lens works great on my D500 and D4.
Blue Moon Camera sells film, process and print. Someone gave me a Minox Camera. Had to try it out. Worked great. Not Cheap but fun.
I bought my Nikkormat FTN 50mm 1.4 in 1972.
I will start with Film. Nikkormat, Nikon F2, Mint Nikon S2 Rangefinder, Yashica Electro 35, Yashica May 124, Mamiya C330. All in full working order and I Do use them. I like the S2 the best. It is like a fine piece of Jewelry. Photos are excellent.
Have been very pleased with Cameta Camera. Thank you and enjoy retirement.
Last Spring I purchased a D4 for $1300. eBay purchase from a Camera store in Alabama. Was shooting American Legion Baseball with my D500, 70-200 f2.8. Very Dusty. The D4 is a tank. Love it. Was shooting HS Softball until Schools closed. The 70-200 is much more versatile on Softball field with FX camera.
I have a D500. It handles low light very well. Have recently taken candid photos for my Church’s Website. Used my Nikon Df set to Aperature priority and auto ISO. Took some in Monochrome to shake things up. Was very pleased with results.
Not quite the same experience. Few years ago I was taking photos at Panama City Beach. Sent some to local Walmart to get some 8x10s. Went to pick up and clerk made the comment “so your are the one taking such great photos” she wanted to print some for herself but could only do it if I gave her written permission. I did.
I understand your dilemma. I have the same back ground as you and feel the same way about weddings. When asked to take photos of an event and how much would I charge I mention that I have been given donations and give the money to my favorite Charity. I do use a flash outdoors at times. I purchased a $20 tripod with mount for flash and umbrella on amazon. Then got a Chinese flash and radio trigger. Operate the flash power in manual for desired result. I took a family portrait and the flash at low power made a huge difference in bringing out color. Received a generous donation that went to charity.
Beautiful Photos. I live in NC but am from Jacksonville FL.
Like Trains. NC Transportation Museum, Spencer NC. I live in NC near Mountains. Endless opportunities.
When I went from D70 to a D200 I felt it was a big move so I got a 17-55 F2.8 Dx. Grandson has the 200. Now use the Lens on a D500. ......I am old so in early 70s I wanted a Nikon F. Could not afford so got a Nikkormat. Still use it. Now along came the Df. This camera was for people like me. Have it in its own case and only use it with a 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8. I do have a 70-200 2.8 along with a 300 F4. Use them on the D500 mostly for sports. Have done some portrait work with the D500.
I have an App, works Android and iPad. Nikon Manual Viewer. You can download most any Nikon manual. No charge. There is a separate D500 manual for focus settings when shooting sports.
I have used a 50mm 1.8 G on my D4 with no problems.
