I was asked by the Landscaping host (R. G.) to repost my Birch Trees topic.

This image was taken last year (Oct 2020) while on our travels from Maryland to Wyoming. At some point Northern Wisconsin, we located a spot where we could take a rest from a long days worth of driving. Here is where I noticed a small group of yellow trees with white trunks. From a distance I was assuming these were young birch trees because they were situated at the main entrance of a landfill.

Although I was some distance away from the group of trees, I walked through tall grasses and reeds to get to an ideal vantage point. There was a slight breeze in the air and temp ranged in the low 50s. The breeze made the leaves on the tree flutter or shimmer in the wind, but the wind was not strong enough to have moved the tree trunks. This effect made the leaves blend together causing a blur of color almost like someone had painted these colors onto the image.

I had taken several different shots from different angles, but the image posted here would be deems the best of the lot. Once home, I could have cropped the image, but didn't Nothing more needed to be done. The image was fine as is. Later and according to one of the Hogs, These are not Birch trees more over they are Poplar trees. But the photo title stuck anyway.

One reason I'm posting this image is because there's zero post processing. Image can be done like this without post processing. So don't always rely on PP to adjust your work. Your work should be fine as is and that the way I like it. If you don't know what you're doing in Post processing, leave it out of the equation.

Equipment Used:

Canon M6 / Fotodiox EF to EF-M Adapter / Canon EF 100mm f/2 USM / Cokin Filter Adapter / Experimental 85mm x 100mm Polarization Filter / Vintage 1970's Velbon Multi-point Tripod

As an ex-SCCA member, I would set up on differant parts of the track and take pictures from differant view/vantage points some where spot on while other where tracking. it's very difficult to convey what the car is doing while driving around the track. I suppose the same holds true if you're taking pictures of a game. When tracking the subject is added, you will gets some blurring bokeh in the back ground instead of a static blur typical of a bokeh type lens. You're main concern is to make sure you're lens has the correct setting and lighting need as not to wash out the subject. otherwise those viewing your image would see it as merely a sports portrait.

Jim, This just happens to be one of those instances where we need an event calendar section as I submitted this ideal to the admin.. But clearly he's/she's not willing to add this section for us.

The artistic soft focus effect should be used for foggy conditions to heighten the foggy or smoke in the surroundings.

I have a question for those following my topics. Although I see and have seen these images and if I don't say anything as to what they are or what to look for, is one able to make heads or tails of what the image is?. IE: if I had never said anything about this picture, would you have known what it is. it's very difficult to convey what I or one sees when in the field. I see it then and now, but I'm trying to put you in my shoes to see the same thing I did. Plus I don't think the color version would have shown the shadows very well. The yellow and green fields would have detracted from the image.

Two differant chargers two sets of batteries for two differant cameras, then add in two differant smart phones and one tablet. At home it's very difficult to locate outlets enough to charge everything all at once. But while in the van, Our Anker charger works wonders. if you need one for the car or a portable charger look into the Anker products. In a pinch, I'll grab my Anker power pod mini which is about the size of a lipstick container and I can attach to the camera for a quick power up while on a shoot.

Kildeer is a type of sandpiper as these are known to build nest in the sand pebbles like those on the roof tops of larger buildings. We see plenty of these around our area not wondering far from the nest atop Walmart and other buildings in the area. Typically when you see them this close, prob means you've wondered to close to their nest.

The wife is my back up. She always wants the originals cause she knows I'll be converting most of them into black & white.

Typo, this is what happens when one is in a rush trying to write something positive in order to get feed back then turning around and trust what spellcheck has to say.. The word should have been "Exhibitions"

Just so other realize, I'm not condoning standing in the middle of the road when taking pictures, But this was one of those instances where there was nothing coming from any direction. This is one reason I'm considering creating Hogger dayglow vest or jacket for the community.
