The short answer is:

ISO in digital world is a big lie perpetuated by the manufacturers to sweeten their sales.

So where is your scientific proof of that claim? Explain it or retract it. If you can't prove it then why say it.

So glad you got it worked out. I have the MK III myself. Love it. I'm just waiting for John Greengo to come out with his video on the MK III. I understand that he is working on it.

The phone cameras have been gaining a lot of traction in the last few years. I just cannot give justice to the cost of one at all.

You got it. Man you could buy a really nice mirroless or DSLR camera with lenses for the price of an iPhone 12.
Yes the iPhone has some great features and lenses. I'll wait till the iPhone 13 comes out and maybe buy a 12 when the price comes down [way down]

Just curious if anyone has used any of the Jake Olson products. Was interested in some of them but not sure if it is worth it.

Sorry wrong name before.

Thanks in advance
Julie

Don't know if this is the same Jake Olson - but worth looking into.

I'm 76 and switched to the Olympus mirrorless about 4 years ago. I really like it. Much lighter and the lenses are a whole lot smaller. What is even better is the in-body stabilization. I had the OM-D-M1-Mk II which has 5 axis stabilization. I now have the Mk III. Love it.

PhotoPills is the best. For the price you can't beat it. Great tutorials, both video and PDF.
The Photographer's Ephemeris is another app. It's good, but I still prefer PhotoPills by far.

I have the Adobe desktop monthly subscription version of Lightroom and Photo Shop. I was looking at the Adobe Creative Cloud app and it shows two different versions of Photo Shop. I'm running Windows 10.

Photoshop v 21.2.4 Desktop - Create beautiful graphics, photos and art anywhere

Photoshop v 20.0.10 Desktop - Create beautiful graphics, phots and art

The v 21.2.4 has the Ps logo without a border; Adobe Photoshop 2020
The v 20.0.10 has a Ps logo with a blue border; Adobe Photoshop CC 2019

When I click on the Windows key on my keyboard and go to Adobe - it shows that both programs are on my computer.

If the subscription service updates the programs why would my computer still have the CC 2019 version installed when the 2020 version updated?

Can I just delete the CC 2019 version without causing any problems. I do have a number of third party presets, LUTS, etc.

Determine what your computer systems are, Graphics Card, RAM - etc.
Then check out the computer requirements for each program you are using. That will tell you if your old computer is up to snuff to run the software. I highly suspect your graphics card is big issue, but more RAM will also help. I recently updated my HP laptop with a new SSD and went from 12 to 16 mb of ram. You can't beat the speed of a SSD vs a spin up drive. Before I changed to the SSD Lightroom was running so slow.

Creative Live has some out standing videos. John Greengo has some fantastic instructional videos. I also have some series by Ben Wilmore, both his Lightroom and Photoshop. Agree, there is lots of FREE stuff on YouTube, but then you get what you pay for. Some of it is good, some not so good.

OK - so how to you sharpen and denoise a photo to the extent of AI programs without AI programs? What Blake is saying is his opinion. So take it for what it's worth.

A little levity here: One dog says to the other - Why are those humans wearing mussels. The dog answers, because they haven't lean to sit and stay

If you use presets are you really a photographer?

Photography is an ART FROM. You as the photographer create the image the way you see fit. No one else has the right to tell you you are wrong just because you used some presets to help develop the image. It would be like telling an artist you can only use a certain paint brush to paint a painting. You can only use oil paints to pain the painting. You get my point.
As the photographer I will choose what I think is the best way to process my photo. If you don't like it, too bad. Nothing says I have to tell you how I did it. If you like it, enjoy it. If you don't like it, move on.

If I use someone else's preset that I buy is that any different than using a preset I created. The end result is the same.

If you don't like presets, don't use them. It's that simple. All the sliders you use in Lightroom or Photoshop are just a form of a preset any way. So build a bridge and get over it.
