I bought a macro Ring Light from fellow UHH member WF2B in July and the spirit finally moved me to do some macro. So to test it I put my 100 mm f/2.8 macro on my 5DIV. Mounted the Ring Light flash, took one shot of my paper weight on the desk to make sure the batteries I put in were good and went out in the yard. This was my first subject. I'll post more later, I may stretch them out for the weekend.
5DIV, Canon 100 f/2.8 Macro, 1/160 @ f/11, ISO-400
hand held with Ring Flash on lens at 4PM so the flash did not have sun light to compete with

I just purchased a new iMac. Sadly it does not have a cd slot. Is there any way to install my photoshop program without having to pay monthly or yearly for a downloaded version. It’s an older version but works well and I hate to pay for a new one.

These were taken in the spring of this year. This wreak is on Lake Ontario on the Canadian side close to Niagara Falls. This boat was towed hear many years ago I think in the late 70s or early 80s to be made into a floating restaurant. Some kids boarded the boat and had a party a fire broke out and here she lays. Taken with the Fuji GFX 100 and the 32-64 lens

Very nice Bob

Yes, I've done that with my D800, but don't get anythink like the colors I saw in these photos. It's not that they jumped out at me, rather that they seemed more robust, full.

OK cool just thought I would run that by you Mike

Mike, I saw some wildlife photos taken with either a D5 or D6 on another forum. The colors seemed much fuller. Was it just good p/p or was it the camera?

hey Steve just thought of something... Under picture control the photo could of been shot set to vivid which would make a big change in color ... Try it sometime That is picture control in the menu Mike

Hi Steve — Both Nikon D6 and Nikon D5 have Full frame sized 21.0 MP resolution sensors so sensor size and resolution is not a differentiator between these two cameras. ... In this case, both Nikon D6 and Nikon D5 have the same Nikon F lens mount so have 309 native lenses available. All of these lenses cover Full frame sensor. so that being said there should be no different look in color ?? beats me Mike I sure would not make the change.... If I had to make the change due to camera got stolen or lost or etc... other than that ??? Have a good day Steve

Mike....Since you own both the D850 and the D5, you are the perfect person to ask about the differences. People here say the D850 is the best camera Nikon makes. If so, why the D5? I know that the D5 has larger pixels which helps with low light and also fps. Do you find that there is more to it than that?

Hi Steve The D 850 is a great camera don't get me wrong But I use my D5 more than my D850, I use it in the studio mostly and commercial photography. the higher Resolution , large file space it takes lots of disk space. But it being a very good camera I don't think it is better. You can buy 2 D850 for the cost of 1 D5 Hmmm there must be a reason for that ( Humor ) No disrespect intended Steve a new camera will not make the pictures any better stay with D5 and D850 its all about technique ,you will be just fine unless of course newer is cooler Haha Mike

I am a long time Nikon user (since 1966). Shoot with D5, D850, D500. Mostly nature/travel.

Anyone have experience with the D6 yet. I am interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks.

Elliott or bigred1

Very little difference between a D5 and D6 Why would you want to change...

Mike I shoot with a D5 and a D850 I does not get any better unless you have money to burn Then go for it my 2 cents Mike look at the specs

As I continue to improve on my bird pictures, I would like to have my name inconspicuously included in each of my images to show that they were taken and edited by me. My limited photographic knowledge prevents me from doing so without having a white background behind my signature. Would you please advise me how more experienced photographers do this without taking away from the power of their creations. Thanking you in advance. Shooter41

If your really worried about someone using your image don't post them ( sorry ) Mike

A speaker at a recent photo club meeting was describing the importance various redundant backup options. He mentioned that external hard drives (like Seagate and WD) need to be replaced about every 18-24 months.

I understand any such device can fail, and one needs a backup of the backup, so to speak. But I was shocked at his assertion. I keep adding more WD units as my collection grows...but I had not considered constant replacement too. Thoughts? Thanks.

Not true I have 12 external and 5 internal not true if that were true the same would happen to internal .... Hog wash I have some external for 8 years or more Mine are powered by a stand alone power supply the only connection used is the data cable....... Mike
