Grabbed these on assignment last week in Westminster, CO, for a pair of suburban Denver newspapers. This pair of high schoolers had been practicing for a Midwest US competition this weekend (Nov 18) in Bloomington, MN. Was in the hockey bench area, Nikon 7200 w/a Nikkor 2.8 70-200 @ 135mm. Though I had their coach turn on the hockey game lighting, it was by no means anywhere near NHL standards. Hence I shot at 1/800th of second F2.8 and 1600 ISO. As a rule of thumb for sports, I always try and start at 1/1000, but in this instance, I needed more light. The other involves a flock of wild turkeys which have gravitated to local lady who raises domestic turkeys. These wild birds were actually pretty docile around me. Used the aforementioned lens as well.

Curious what kind of lens you were using? Very nice shots.

I have been using two sets of rechargeables-Duracell and Energizer, which I recharge with a Duracell charger. Perhaps I should trash 'em both and get the Eneloops? Also perhaps pick up a charger that reconditions as well?
Thanks,

Have a 700 Nikon Speedlight, which I use w/a Nikon 7200. Used it quite a bit about 3 weeks ago @ my grand niece's wedding, to the point where it overheated and would not fire late that day. Was then not used for 2 weeks. One day as I was trying to dial in a Gary Fong diffuser, it would not fire. Reset my camera's shooting menu, and got it to work again, only to have the problem resurface on another day, after it had been idle in my bag for another week or so. Had to do the shooting menu reset again, and it did work. Did I do something to it at the wedding?Any thoughts, suggestions and or other remedial steps? Both units are 1.5 years old, and were purchased new.
Thanks.

Outstanding photos. Grabbed these guys (or gals?) while on assignment shooting some local 4th of July activities in Northglenn, CO. Had my longer (Nkkor 70-200 2.8) lens as I was shooting a road race, and they happened to buzz overhead, while I awaited the finishers.

Lightroom. Recently got it for $9.99/ mo. Gives you lots of options and there is plenty of tutorial material online to help.

Larry, If as you say, you'll be in the Aspen area, try and get to Hayes Creek Falls, along the Crystal River. It's about 2 mi S of the town of Carbondale, CO, along Colorado Route 133. Took this there at the height of the spring runoff in June 2014 with my old camera, a Fuji FinePix 2700. (Have a Nikon 7200 now).

Jane-
You definitely want to do the "High Road to Taos" which involves traveling the mountainous though paved routes, of NM Highways 518, 75, and 76 (north to south or reversed if you're coming up from Santa Fe). You'll go thru the towns of Penasco, Trampas and Truchas (first photo), the latter is where Robert Redford made "The Milago Beanfield War" back in the mid 80s. Get a good map and of course, as others have pointed out, you'll want to see the Santuario de Chimayo, which is at the end (or the beginning) depending on which way you go, of this ride, just outside the town of Espanola. US 64, which is east of Taos, thru Cimarron Canyon, is cool as well, as you'll go thru the town of Eagles Nest. These were taken in July '15 with a Fuji FinePix 2700, which I've since given to my grandkids. I run a Nikon (7200) rig now.

Welcome Sue. Took a similar path- from a Fuji Fine Pix 2700 to the Nikon 7200. It's been about a year and a half for me, so feel free to ask ?s. The joke I tell is that one needs a degree in Electrical Engineering to be able to figure out these newer DSLRs. Not exactly, but we're here to help.

It is the full frame as I did not crop either of these photos in post. In fact, I really didn't touch them in post at all. Realized that with the sunlight, I could shoot @ 1/2000 @ F4 and get the right kind of exposure. ISO was on auto. The 7200 is a cropped sensor camera, as you may know.

Here's one more (no extender) from a Colorado High School Activities Association 5A Regional Baseball Playoff between host Mountain Range HS of Westminster, and Dakota Ridge of Littleton. Similar specs Nikon 7200 Nikkor 70-200 1/2000 F4 180 ISO @ 160mm
