I have been using Google's Picasa for years. When my computer went kaput I got a new one. Now I find Picasa is no longer available. Can my Hedgehog friends recommend a good photo editor alternative ?

I would recommend Affinity for $50.

Here is a link to download Picasa:https://windows10portal.com/download-picasa. I used it an had no difficulty with installation. If that does not work, I would recommend Photo Gallery - free with Windows 10 or FastStone (a free download - http://faststone.org/download.htm) or Photoshop Elements 15 if you have a 64 bit system. Each is easy to use. If you want to step up your processing, Photoshop CC and or LightRoom CC or as Jerry recommended, Affinity.

Picasa is a very limited editing software. Photoshop Elements is much better. I have no experience with Affinity but I have heard good things about it.
I am sure the links given to you by Jerry should resolve your editing issues.

I edit on an Apple MacBook Pro. Photoshop Elements 15 (latest version) is very well liked among both PC and Mac UHH members. I have been using On1 Photo Raw (both PC and Mac) and Lightroom (old stand-alone version 5.7). I have considered MacPhun's Luminar (originally for Mac, but coming out in a PC version). /Ralph

I have used Zoner Photo Studio for years and now I use ZPS 18 which currently is on sale for $18.
This version is the latest but one, the current version is ZPS X which is now you have to subsribe to which I don'w want to !

Here's the link: https://www.zoner.com/en/buy/zps18?uid=3UsiSjiO7k6MUH9s4gxuxw&utm_source=offer&utm_medium=mailing&utm_content=button&utm_campaign=2017-07-20-zps18-sale-all

I also use Google Photos to store my photographs in the cloud for free, but it also has an editor which is quite good.

l hope this helps.

Elements I believe is limited to 8 bit rendition where you can go as high as 32 bit with Affinity and on top of that it's a lot cheaper at $49.00. Affinity takes a little getting use to compared to Elements but will do more for you overall. Great piece of software and there are reports out there that they are putting together an indexing add on like Lightroom's so you can catalog your photos within the program. If that happens it would be like having Lightroom and Photoshop in one package.

I switched from PS CC6 to Affinity and recommend it. Many free tutorials from Affinity and others.

Lightroom. Recently got it for $9.99/ mo. Gives you lots of options and there is plenty of tutorial material online to help.

Just wondering. Does anyone else who shoots with a Nikon use the View NX2 program that comes with the camera in tandem with Nikon Capture? Even though I have Photoshop and Lightroom, I find that these 2 programs which work together do just about everything I want/need for my editing. Just wondering.

I am not saying anything negative about the suggested products above as I have no experience with them. But you may want to consider Luminar which is now in public beta for Windows and in full release for Mac. It gets very good reviews on the Mac.

For Windows, free, try IrfanView but be sure to download all the plugins, etc. It's my go-to utility on Windows.

I use View NX2 consistently. After I import a series of raw photos, I open VNX2 and it displays a row of the images along the bottom.
Even if I don't perform any editing, I File Convert to either TIFF or JPG and save them as such.

I'm still toying with Affinity and PSE15 and agree - don't see the need for LR at this point, mainly due to having View NX2.
