I started out using Photoshop but have switched to Lightroom for the catalog and basic editing features. Then I use Photoshop for more in depth editing. A Lightroom feature that I really like is being able to make a virtual copy of a photo and edit it in different ways.

Hi All,

I'm here every day, and try to help others, especially new users and new photographers. But I know we all can learn something new...every day, if we permit ourselves. It's my turn to learn something.

I'm a dedicated Photoshop Users, and have been for many years since 2001, and continue every day. I do not use Lightroom. But I want to ask. I've just joined Kelby One. I respect Scott Kelby a great deal. My membership there offers avenues of learning in Lightroom. Will I learn something there that I can use there?

I do not batch anything. I do not store anything in any cloud. I archive my own RAW files here, and I thoroughly enjoy spending the time working on a single image via Photoshop, and usually with so many layers one might be worried the stack just might 'fall over'.

Having said all that, would I learn something there that I would not already have learned in Photoshop?

Thanks, in advance, and I welcome your feedback.

Bill

PSCC 2018 worked so nicely with Select & Mask. It just worked. With the 2019 update, however, I can't get a suitable selection using the Select & Mask tools. I'm wondering if others are having this issue? If so, do you have any words of wisdom on how to make it work?

Thanks in advance.

You can still use the 2018 PSCC version. Click the arrow next to the PS logo and it opens a drop down list with the 2018 version. Hope this helps

After I download manuals I put them in Drop Box. I have Drop Box on all of my PC, my IPAD, and my phone. I can read my manuals from every device.

Apple has decided that I can no longer use their Books app to read camera manuals and other books and magazines that I have downloaded from the web. Other than an Adobe Reader I would like to know what apps others use and their pluses and minuses.

Thanks,

You can request your brother's medals by submitting an SF180 form (Google will find the form). The instruction for submission for each branch of service are on the reverse side of the form.

It depends upon your OS.. I have a windows 7 desktop I uploaded CC2019, and all was well until I tried to open a JPG!.. I contacted Adobe, and they were a great help, but rolled me back to 2018, as currently CC2019 will not as yet "play" with windows 7. BTW, I do not see any real advantages to upgrading to CC2019, so i'm not worried.. Windows 7 has been a great and stable platform for Adobe CC 2018!

I have Windows 7 and can open JPEG's and RAW files using Adobe CC 2019.

I have the HP Office Jet Pro 8710. I also use their ink purchase program. I'm very happy with all aspects of the system. It was relatively inexpensive and is a work horse. If you choose HP, I think you will be amazed at the quality and the ink program cost me about $9.00/month for all I use. Try it, you probably will like it!

I have this printer, it's not a photo printer. It's an all-in-one printer -- print, copy, scan, and fax.

I have the Tamron SP 90mm. I have also used my friend's Nikon 105mm. I really like the 90mm because it's not quite as heavy as the 105mm, and I have some really good shots that I've taken with it.

Going to St. Louis for a ballgame and looking for photo ideas, primarily angles/positions to shoot the arch from (also: warehouses, churches, funky neighborhoods, etc).

ref: East St. Louis - this place has been known to be worse than Chicago and L.A. combined. And though I'd be just across the river -- with expensive camera gear -- how bad is it? I'd probably be over there at 1:00 am.

Thanks

(I really like old, beat-up, and funky)

A good place to get pictures of the Arch and surrounding area is from East St. Louis at the Malcolm Martin viewing platform. It is near the Casino Queen. I would only go during the day and/or early evening. I have some good sunset pics from there.

Why are you going to pay for it? as far as I can see the only benefit is if you use Dx0 software rather than Adobe!

I am paying for it because I will get updates and support. This will also help DXO continue to maintain it. My philosophy is that nothing worth having is free.

I have the free version of the NIK Collection from Google. I plan on purchasing the collection from DXO Would it be best to uninstall the free version or will the new version install correctly over the older version?

I sold my D300s to a photojournalist and bought the D500. The D500 is a great camera.

Ditto. His "book" is the holy grail of Nikon autofocus options. I printed it and put it into a 3-ring binder so that I can shuffle through the pages occasionally. Helps reassure me and keep me on track when I change settings for various scenarios. Since I set up "BBF, AF-C, 25-points, Release, auto lock-on", etc I'm getting a lot of Sports Illustrated cover shots at my granddaughter's soccer games. Also I learned to kneel and shoot at ground level and it really changes the perspective when they get closer to me. Amazing how you can get the blades of grass kicking up when they change directions.

I put Steve Perry's book in Dropbox. It's on all my PC's and my phone and IPAD. It is with me always.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I did a factory reset. When the camera is set up again I will save my settings to avoid this issue in the future.

Steve Perry's auto focus book is excellent. I didn't understand the real need for back button focus and how it really worked until I read his book. I'm waiting for his book on the Nikon exposure.

The only problem that I have with a factory reset is setting everything up again (lazy). I did the rest last night.

What problem do you have with a factory reset? I find that is the safest and most reliable way to diagnose problems with a camera. If a reset doesn't fix it it is a camera problem. If it fixes it, the camera is fine - it is something I screwed up!
