You can do what my wife does. She just quietly puts her stuff in my suitcase and I may or may not see it until we arrive at our destination. With that said I realize she can get away with things that I can't, we all know it's a double standard but what can you do.

I recommend avoiding Colorado altogether. Not much to see. I hear Kansas is nice this time of year.

I echo CO comments, I have a 600 and 750 both great image quality good low light image quality. But if you are looking for a backup for indoor events with poor lighting the 750 will serve you better, it practically focuses in the dark. Not so the 600 or 610, I've shot inside events with it and a high percentage of the shots missed subject focus. It's great for everything else though.

I simply spot meter on the review and adjust. I don't think HDR will be helpful in this case. I've shot it through my telescope before and at high magnification you do need to watch shutter speed.

Speaking of keeping originals, do not edit the only jpg, keep it untouched and only edit copies. In general editing jpgs is destructive and every time you save a jpg it condenses it to keep the file size small and in the process it slightly degrades the file.

I've been using ACDSee since version 1 and really like it. You might also consider buying a couple hard drives and do a complete backup on both. Install one in your computer a make it your working photo drive. Then in the future when you upgrade your computer all you have to do is pull the hard drive and install it in the new computer and your up and running.

Do you mean if I have a speedlight on my hot shoe, it will trigger the Alien Bees?

Yes, the built in camera flash, speedlight on hot shoe or even other studio strobs will trigger the Alien Bees. I've done it many times. I've also used the PCB triggers effectively but when I mix different brand stobes with their propriety triggers I just use the optical trigger of the AB for simplicity. They have been very reliable.

Alien bees can also be triggered reliably with your camera flash.

If you're going to do it practice practice practice with with and without flash in low light settings. I took a workshop before my first wedding that included lots of, you guessed it practice.

ACDSEE is a great alternative to LR, been using it for years. I've used LR and liked it but I was already invested in ACDSEE and actually prefer it. The subscription price is very reasonable for LR a little more than buying an ACDSEE license especially when I upgrade for 1/2 price every other year. Lots of good options.
