This is one of those rare photographs where everything seems to fit together properly. The kids don't dominate the image, but the lighting and composition immediately direct your attention to them. I suspect they rarely ever hold hands when they walk together, but they are here. That's the thing that ties everything together and creates an image that's as close to perfection as most of us are ever likely to see.

I hope you have printed, framed and hung it. If you haven't there will surely come a day when you will regret not doing it. .......... Coot

Very well done, Jay. Was that from the Jaggar Museum viewpoint? You sure added interest and perspective by including the trees. And getting to stars to show up adds to it also.

We were there a year ago. I was really bummed the entire area was socked in by fog that night. But we stuck it out and were rewarded with the fog lifting, giving us some great photo opportunities. I'm glad I was ready to go, because after about 10 minutes the fog rolled back in and the volcano disappeared.

Anyone that goes to Volcano NP should make dinner reservations at the lodge or pack a sack supper. Jay's shot shows how grand the view is at night. Here is the rather drab day view of the same thing:
