A decade has passed since I took this photo. It might as well be a day or a week. We took a short walk in the woods on an ordinary, if beautiful, autumn afternoon simply to pass the time. Yet when I look at this image today, the moment it captures feels anything but ordinary. To me now, it feels magical and enchanted and ... important. A beautiful time in my life that only exists in my memory and the pixels of this digital photograph. I stare at the picture too long and I am gripped by a deep feeling of nostalgia.
It is beautifully done,Jay. And a perfect story of walking into the unknown, certainly reminiscent of Into the Woods.

Thanks Carly. I think we can all relate on some level.
What I would give to be in their place. Great shot! ;-)
Very special
are these your children?

They are my kids. They are 14 and 16 now.
This is one of those rare photographs where everything seems to fit together properly. The kids don't dominate the image, but the lighting and composition immediately direct your attention to them. I suspect they rarely ever hold hands when they walk together, but they are here. That's the thing that ties everything together and creates an image that's as close to perfection as most of us are ever likely to see.
I hope you have printed, framed and hung it. If you haven't there will surely come a day when you will regret not doing it. .......... Coot

Beautiful photo and a very good story. Isn't it something how you go to bed and when you wake up it's ten years later. The older you get the faster time slips by. It only seems like yesterday I was getting my drivers license and now I'm 81. Wow....Rich
Capturing time. Priceless!!!
It invokes an warm feeling and a sense of wonder. Where are they going?Where can they be coming from? The composition and natural lighting is good but pales in comparison to the feeling it invokes. We should all have moments like this.
I saw Still Alice yesterday and it reminds me of what she did to preserve memories by putting them on her Iphone. Great picture.
