Do any of you stock the ponds for fishing?
I have a friend that moved to AZ three years ago when he retired. According to his Christmas card they (with wife) live for Golf and parties. A bit different than me with Trees, parks, and dog walking.

I suspect a lot of the ponds are stocked. You see folks fishing at them regularly. The ponds at the community I live in are part of the golf club which is private property. The course ranger will run you off if you’re not playing golf.

Man made lake? Stocked with fish?
Looks like a very unusual environment to photograph these birds in. I would certainly go there if I were a thousand miles closer.

A lot of developments have a lake or 2 or at least retention "ponds" that are dry until it rains. We don't have storm drains common to most cities. We live in a 55+ community that has 3 ponds that are each about 3 acres.

Is this at the Gilbert Riparian Park? There used to be a whole flock of white pelis there.

No. I've been there & plan to go back sometime soon. This is a fairly new development called Morrison Ranch. The park is supposed to be private & only for the use of residents. Nobody questioned me either time I was there. It's on Higley just north of Warner.

In the Sony manual for the A7RII, page 118, they call it "Multi-pattern metering". They probably use the same name in all Sony digital camera menus and manuals.

I can go along with that. I bought my body used from B&H and never bothered to download the manual. I got Gary Friedman's book. He refers to that metering mode as "Multi-Segment". Guess I'll have to get the "official" manual.

Sony calls it Multi-Segment Metering. Not sure where the pattern metering came from.

Never realized Pelicans would winter in Arizona. The lake these birds were inhabiting is about 5 miles from home. I discovered it 1 day last week when I had to make a stop off my normal travel route. Took some time Saturday afternoon to check it out & got some pictures. Went back this morning when the lighting was better. There is also a flock of Cormorants & a solo Great Egret. I'll have to go back again & work on my BIF techniques.

It will probably be 5 years before any of this new technology actually hits the market. Anything that can produce a lighter battery with increased storage capacity & less chance of explosion/fire will be welcome.

I have Two 2TB backup drives. The 1st is used weekly as the primary backup. The 2nd is used about once a month as a secondary backup. That way I'm never out much. The drives are in an external USB drive holder so if 1 drive dies, it can be replaced without taking the tower apart.

I’m with BassmanBruce. Use the adapter until you can afford E mount lenses. Definitely get the LAEA5 as it works much better than the LAEA4 on the newer bodies. I’ve had an A7RIII for about 3 1/2 years. Not sorry that I switched to mirrorless.

That was neat. My wife went to Disneyland the 1st year it was open & we've been there without our kids a few times. The railroad is always the 1st attraction we ride.

Couldn't agree more, Jerry. I've had similar things happen including 1 time when the computer & TV were fine but the UPS died because of the voltage spikes. Also, you have to take care of them. If it starts beeping, don't ignore it or just disconnect it. The battery needs to be replaced. Most computer shops or Batteries Plus Bulbs (we have almost 800 stores nationwide) can replace them for a lot less that buying a new UPS.

I've heard the same lament from several Epson printer users over the years. My HP printers tell me they're out of paper; I put paper in & they pickup where they stopped.

Thanks for the link, Bassman. That's exactly what I was looking for.

Saw this on facebook last week. Would love to know the back story behind it. The expression on the guys face tells a lot.

I’m with Bebu. Most chargers today will adjust to whatever voltage is coming out of the wall whether it’s 120v or 240v & 50hz or 60hz. All you really need is a plug adapter.
