"Paper Out"

I like my Epson ET-2670, but there is room for improvement. Take the "Paper Out" message, for example.

Halfway through a print job, the paper runs out, and the machine stops. The little LCD tells me the paper is all gone, and it wants to show me, in four steps - four screens - how to add more paper. Really?! If the paper ran out, then it must have been in the machine in the first place. Inserting paper is just about the easiest operation you can do.

Now here's the problem: whether I look at the directions or not, there is no way to continue the print job. No matter which button I push, I get "Invalid Response." I did a search through the 237-page manual for "paper out." There is just one entry. When there is a paper jam, it says to take the "paper out" of the printer.

When the paper runs out, I have to turn off the printer, clear the print job, and print from that point on. I've owned lots of printers, and this is the only one that does not let me continue printing.

I've heard the same lament from several Epson printer users over the years. My HP printers tell me they're out of paper; I put paper in & they pickup where they stopped.

At times my Epson's require you to remove / insert the rear panel. My wife prints a ton of S$^T and yells into my office from the other end of the house "can you put more paper in printer" I do and it continues printing. (Epson WF 7520 all in one)

I do that when there's a paper jam - real or imagined - but the directions on the LCD don't mention that. Even clicking through the four LCD screens doesn't let me continue printing.

Never had that problem with the Epson WF printers I've had over the past 12 years.

I've got an Epson ET4800 and it doesn't have that problem. I ran out of paper the other day and refilled it and it continued the print.

I suspect the programmer for the 2670 was just having fun.

They tend to do that at our expense.

I have an Epson 2760 Eco printer and have never had a problem with paper out. If I run out I just add more paper, press the button, and it continues on its merry way!

"the button"? I have ten buttons on mine. Which one do you press? Does the panel show how to add paper in four steps?
