From time to time people report that they dropped their cameras, causing damage to the camera or lens. Don't they use neck or wrist straps? Failing to use neck or wrist straps seems to me to be like riding in a car without wearing a seatbelt. What am I missing here?

I have had about 3 falls and kicked over a tripod. It cost me about $2,000. and a neck strap wouldn't have done anything but complicate matters. It just happens.

Thank you all again for all your information. I am an amateur and it was very confusing trying to understand the difference of the Z24-200mm lens on the Z50 and on the Z6, Z7 and Z9. I just assumed all Z lenses would work the same on all the Nikon Z cameras including the Z50. Tony Northrup said there were really only 2 lenses for the Nikon Z50 and I already have them. After evaluating everything, I have decided to pass on the Z24-200mm lens. It's equivalence of 36-300mm just isn't enough difference from the Z50-250mm lens which I already have.
Thanks again, Lauretta

The 50-250 is made for the 50Z as well as the 16-50. I love them.

Has anyone used this lens? I'm 80 years old and my newest camera is the Nikon z50...trying to keep everything lightweight. I have both kit lenses which comes with this camera, but I really prefer an all-in-one lens. I take photos of family and travel. This looks like a good buy on Nikon's refurbished sale. It was $899.95 and is now $599.95.... but I don't know anything about it. I would appreciate any advice.

The 24-200 Z lens is great. I don't hesitate to mount it.

Hi Hoggers,

Need some advice. I'm going to send my D750 to Nikon for shutter replacement and have never sent them anything before. My question is: should I remove the battery and memory cards prior to sending to them?

Thanks for your advice.

Dave

Follow Nikon's instructions to the "T" and you will be okay.

As a wildlife photographer I usually travel with two camera bodies, Nikon D-7200 and D-7500 along with an adequate collection of lenses, mostly DX, from 10-600 mm. I also carry a little pocket camera, and have been considering replacing one of the larger bodies with the Nikon Z50 with their FTZ attachment since it is a compact little fellow, but could use my existing lenses thus eliminating my little pocket camera. Plus, I can start on what will be the eventual change to mirrorless photography. My wife and I regularly travel to Alaska for coastal brown bears, and to parts of Africa for safaris. I wonder if any of you fine folks have any experience with the Nikon Z50 as a travel camera and/or a second camera body. The jump to full frame at this point would be very expensive. Thanks, and have a good weekend!

I have already switched to mirrorless. The entire Z system is great. I love the Z50s. They are stellar as far as I am concerned. Even the kit lenses they come with are good. I use the F mount 500PF with an FTZ adaptor on my Z50s. Good luck.

My problem is they don't HSS with the Z9, Z7ii and Z6ii. I almost never shoot TTL.

So this is to those that have any hands on experience with the new Z cameras. I shot my Z9 with the adapter and F mount lenses. I have seen a couple videos and read some articles that tested Z glass on camera and F mount on camera and a split decision on whether there is any difference on IQ. I'm not sure if I would waste my time and money selling the F mounts and putting towards the Z mount glass. Has anyone shot both on their camera and can you send the difference. Asking for a friend

I sold all my F mount glass except for my F mount 500PF. I wish I had kept some of the other F mounts. I do like the Z mount glass and my Z cameras. I wish I had kept the D850, D500 and D780. I would have still bought the Zs.

You can insure it for your purchase price. Ask them about "Stated Value Insurance."

You might take your camera and lens to a professional camera shop and get them to electronically calibrate them. It usually costs around 40-50 dollars. If that doesn't work it's probable that something is lacking in technique with you. The 70-200 lens is one of the sharpest lenses on the market.

If you have a Z9 you should note that the Westcott FJ400s, FJ200s and FJ80s will only shoot manually. This means no TTL and no High-Speed Sync. They have had enough time to work on a firmware fix but when I spoke to them they didn't seem to care a lot. I don't know about the other Zs but I imagine they are probably similarly configured.

Hello
I need the user manual for the Canon Powershot S60, NOT to be confused with the SX60.

Thanks

Just search the net. They are all over it and Canon is also extremely helpful.

Shoot the way you are most comfortable. There are many professional and highly paid photographers that shoot JPG while on assignment and there are some who only shoot RAW while being paid. I only shot RAW for about 11-years and I am just now, at 80, shooting some monochrome JGPs. I find them quite editable. I have always strived to "get it right in camera" and so I feel it matters little anymore. Photography is a science and it is also personal. Shoot what and how you want.
