Here's the Award Winning Chili Recipe:



Ingredients:
- 2 lb of hamburger
- 1 can of Rotel
- 1 can of kidney beans
- 2 cans of chili beans
- 1 jar of chili sauce (12 ounces)
- 1 jar of medium salsa (or homemade if you prefer) I use Herdez Salsa Casera (Mild)
- 1 Pkg. Taco Bell Taco Seasoning
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 1 green pepper chopped
- 1 Tbl mince garlic
- 2 Tbl chili powder
- 1 Tbl Cumin
- 1 Tsp black pepper
- 1 Tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 Tbl tabasco (or to taste)

Directions:
Brown Hamburger, add to crock pot.
Brown sausage, add to crock pot.
Saute onion and green pepper, add to crock pot.

Add all of the remaining ingredients to the crock pot. Cook for 2 hours or longer (longer is better).

Serve with chopped onions, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, or whatever else you like.

First the basics. I'm 79 and my wife is 75. Like everyone else, we have been in lockdown for 6 months. I am thinking about a trip to see some of the Utah parks, Monument Valley and possibly the Grand Canyon north rim. This will be a driving trip starting from Los Angeles and we would probably spend 7 or 8 days on the road. We are both in reasonable health with no underlying health issues. We are thinking of late September or early October. While I will be into my photography, my wife will basically be along for the ride. There will be no long hikes or climbing. The $64 question is can we stay safe.

My plan would be to take our own bedding for the trip. I would not rely on local motels to have the best disinfectant protocols. I am guessing we can keep social distancing fairly easily with the possible exception of hiring a guide in Monument Valley. Have you done this trip in recent months or do you know of others who made this trip and with what results? I'm on the fence but obviously don't want to do something stupid. I would like to keep the motel stops to a minimum and was looking for suggestions for a base location near Zion or Brice to do day trips of less than 150 miles. I'm not going to make it all the way to Moab. Suggestions?
