Horses and bulls are treated great in rodeos. They all live into their 20s and are seldom injured. Calves, on the other hand, are treated differently, as are the cowboys, who are some of the bravest and toughest athletes of any sport. And if you want to get spectacular photographs, go to a rodeo.
I worked around horses for a number of years and some of the best trained and well cared for horses came from the rodeo that came to Boston and decided to sell off most of their horses. I think they were having money problems. The place where I worked bought about 10 of them and they were resold for big money as it was quite apparent how well trained, healthy and well cared for they were. One fellow bought two of them and boarded them with us and they were a pleasure to work around, groom and shoe.
