Cashmere is a small town about 10 miles from Leavenworth, Washington with a population of just over 3,000 people and thousands of apple trees. It is the home of Applets and Cotlets, a fruit confections made from apples and apricots.

Blewett Pass, at an elevation of 4,124 feet, is a mountain pass in the Wenatchee Mountains of Washington state that lies on the route of the historical Yellowstone Trail.

Photographs taken with Nikon D810 with a 24-120mm f/4 lens happily mounted on a tripod.

The railroad station, it is no longer in service.

Icicle Creek originates at Josephine Lake near the crest of the Cascade Range and flows generally east to join the Wenatchee River near Leavenworth.

Leavenworth is a Bavarian-styled village in the Cascade Mountains, in central Washington State.

It was foggy and cloudy but comfortably warm. There was little color so I opted to finish these in Black and White.

These were shot with a Nikon D810 and a 24-120mm f/4 lens, mounted on a tripod.

Excellent series. I didn’t realize the road to Paradise was still open this time of the year.

It stays open most of the year. Hwy 410 closes but you can usually get to Paradise, although at times you will need chains.

The top of Mount Rainier stands at 14,410 feet above sea level. Mount Rainier, an icon in the Washington landscape, is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S.A., It spawns five major rivers and has subalpine wildflower meadows ringing the icy volcano while ancient forest cloaks Mount Rainier’s lower slopes. Wildlife abounds in the park’s ecosystems. A lifetime of discovery awaits.

I went to the Visitor Center at Paradise and just up the hill a short distance was able to get these shots.

I used a Nikon D810 with a 24-140 f/4 lens. Most shots were f/8 or f/5.6 and the shutter speeds ranged from 125th of a second to 500th of a second.

jonjacobik,
I used Lightroom to see what it would do and it seems to have done a fair job of reducing the noise.

Here is a shot of the final (I used the auto correct in addition to the noise reduction which warmed it up a little).

The second shot I cropped in.

The other shot shows a before and after zoomed in so you can better compare the noise in the two views and includes the settings of the noise reduction.

Very good shot.

EXIF is showing 3 samples per pixel - wonder what that means?

From what I can see this is why: This means that each color channel of a pixel has 8-bits of data allocated to reproduce color. ... A color with all 3 color channels registering 0 is black whilst one with all 3 ... Compared to the prior sample the grain is even more noticeable.

No pixel-shifting that I am aware of, but I'm pretty sure there is a "loose nut" behind the viewfinder.

Sorry I should have put in the details: Nikon D810 with a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 lens and a 1.4 teleconverter so shot at equivalent to 280mm f/11 at 30 seconds.

The Astoria-Megler Bridge and Astoria, Oregon photographed at sunset on August 25th from Point Ellice, Washington on Hwy 101.
Astoria, a port city on the mouth of the Columbia River, was founded in 1811 and is the oldest city in the state of Oregon. It was the first American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains. The Bridge is a steel cantilever truss that spans the lower Columbia River, between Astoria, Oregon, and Point Ellice near Megler, Washington. It opened in 1966 and is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America at just over 4 miles long.

Both photos were taken from the same point the bridge facing South and a little East and the sunset facing almost due West.

I am interested, can you send me a shot or two that you have taken with the camera? Also what lens have you been using with it? Was it sync'd with a specific lens or set up generically?
Thanks,

Dave
