After being away from serious photography for over 10 years, this Christmas I found a D850 under the tree. Since my last camera was a D700 (again not used in a long time,) I find the need for a guide(s) to get me going again.
The Nikon manuals are uninspiring, and a quick perusal of Darrell Young’s “Mastering the D850” didn’t give me what I want: a kind of triage set up with a good quick start overview to get me going, then later chapters set up to explain the more nuanced capabilities. I’m also wondering if either Mike Hagen’s or Steve Perry’s guides to autofocus settings would also be of help.

Moving to Sony. This equipment has and continues to serve me well, but I’m moving to mirrorless and going with Sony, so selling all my Nikon gear. I just received my latest shipment from B and H, which included extra batteries for my Nikon Z6ii. On the outside of the shipping box was a big notice:”Lithiun-ion batteries forbidden for transport on passenger aircraft”. As I plan to fly with my camera (and extra batteries), this is a problem. It also sounds crazy. I have flown with a camera and batteries before and never had an issue. Does anyone know anything about this. (Yes, I will call the airline, but it is so difficult to get through to the proper person, I thought I would try here first.) Thanks.

According to a Sony executive, cell phone cameras will be better than DSLRs by 2024. I thought that was an interesting comment. By 2024, DSLR sales will be very low, and new models will probably be non-existent. When was the last time Sony made a DSLR? They can denigrate cameras that they don't offer.

Of course, "better" is a word with unlimited meaning. I can't wait till 2024 to see what cell phones are like.

I ordered a printer from B&H last week, delivery was scheduled for Wed., August 3rd with Fed-ex. At 7 p.m. last night I got an e-mail stating that my package had been delivered. Strange, because I have a ring doorbell and it showed no activity and there was no package at my door. I called B&H first thing this morning to let them know that I had not received the package and they said they would look into it. I also checked with many neighbors in case it had been delivered somewhere else by mistake. B&H sent me an e-mail stating that Fed-ex said it was delivered - end of discussion. So, am I out $700? Neither company seems to be concerned about this. I have been ordering from B&H for almost 20 years. Last month I spent $5,000 on a new camera. Do I have any recourse on this matter?
