Has the OP had any luck using these suggestions?

Change the file name(s) by one character in Windows (or your operating system) and try to import the "new" file(s)?

Close LR and re-open??

That's what I would try. FWIW

It has been my experience that most of the problems that users have with the Photoshop Elements Organizer is that they do not understand that it is a database. That is it does not contain your photos. Part of the information about a photo is a pointer that indicates where on your computer, the photo is stored. What that means is that one must obey the following Cardinal Rules.

Do Not Move Photos
Do Not Rename Photos
Do Not Delete Photos

UNLESS you do it from in the Organizer with its commands.
DO NOT Use File Explorer to perform the above operations.

I do not know whether the original poster's problem or other issues mentioned in the thread were partly cause by violating thee three rules or not. But over the 15+ years I have been using the Organizer, Violating these rules have been the root cause in a large number of cases.

I have written a series of tutorials/tips on using the Organizer over the years. The following link lists many of the more recent ones.

Another thought: The best camera is the one you have with you. This discussion reminds of those taking place when digital was first being introduced - would its quality/resolution ever match that of film?

Have you tried Find > By Visual Searches > Duplicate Photos from the Menu bar in the Organizer?

That's the plug-in I mistakenly called Elements++. :-)

So far, everyone is discussing the Photo Editor in PSE. It also has an Organizer that that can do the same thing that Lightroom CC can when it comes to managing your photos/videos. And it does it with a simpler and easier to lean user interface.

I have used PSE since day 1. My current Catalog has about 70k photos/videos. I also have PS CC and Lightroom CC. I only use PS CC when I cannot do what I want with PSE, which is not that often for the type of photographer I am, which is not an expert.

To give PSE even more power, there is a plug-in called Elements++ that really adds a lot of features that are buried under the hood of PSE. PSE is like burying a Chevrolet. In the old days what was inside the body and under the hood was the same as the Cadillac.

So, I would buy it. And I would definitely use its Organizer.

BTW I recently converted my entire PSE Catalog to Lightroom, as a learning exercise. Internally the two programs are similar, being database managers. Still learning the details of LR CC.

This sounds like the solution. The Organizer only shows a thumbnail that it creates from the photo file. There must be a limit to its code relative to file size of the original.

I agree. There is a size limit to what the Organizer can display. Given the popularity of panoramas and the relative ease at which thy can be created, I have suggested to Adobe that the size limits be expanded. It remains the same in PSE 2019.

If I am not mistaken, Adobe has official renamed Lightroom variations.

Lightroom Classic - What's been on desktops over the years.

Lightroom CC - The mobile/cloud storage version.

I have Lightroom Classic on my desktop, as well as Lightroom CC. I also have iOS Lightroom CC on my iPad and iPhone. I am still fine tuning my workflow, but my prime goal is to use to get the photos/videos I take with my iPhone into Lightroom Classic on my PC. I want to do this without exceeding the 20 Gb free storage limit. My approach is to delete the photos from the cloud and the mobile devices, once they have been imported to Classic.

Like I said, I am still working on the details, but so far the overall approach seems to work.

This isn't particularly helpful. The OP would like to know HOW to reduce noise with his current software (Elements 14). If your only insight is that there is better software available, then how about listing some suggested software you feel would do the job better than Elements 14. I have the same interest in learning how to reduce noise.

Good input.

Here's a checklist of differences. To me, the "new" features don't add anything for a 2018 owner to need to purchase.

This is a very helpful link. Since Adobe releases a new version of PSE each fall, the changes are incremental. Here is a link to my brief summary of the improvements posted very soon after the release of PSE 2019.

Bear in mind DVD is a relatively low resoution, probably 1/3 the resolution of 720P out of your camera, and about 1/6th the resolution of 1080P out of your camera. You are better off putting your mp4 on Vimeo or Youtube or other online services and viewing it online in HD on a computer or on a smart TV or Roku, etc.

No argument there.

I've recently upgraded my Mac to an iMac with Mojave. I typically upload all my images to Photos. I like the way they are organized with the albums and dates. The majority of my images I don't do a whole lot too (maybe exposure, crop here and there). But, there are those I want to really "play" with in Photoshop Elements 15. I am curious as to what an efficient workflow between the two would look like. Even ideas as to folder or file names would be appreciated.

Since you are using PSE 15, I would center my workflow around at and its Organizer/Catalog. From the Organizer, import directly from your camera/card reader storing them into whatever folder structure you prefer, use its keyword tags or and/or Albums to organize them, and then one of the many modes of the Photo Editor as needed.

The PSE Organizer can manage very large Catalogs. It sounds like you are familiar with the Photo Editor aleady.

Off hand, I do not have any suggestions for a free DVD burning program. I generally use Premiere Elements 2019.
