Thanks Guys,

I appreciate the comments.

I know I often don't shoot cropped in as is the standard or most like.
I know the Guys "Pro's to Me" who shoot for Max Prep's, etc. are very skilled at
capturing close in frontal shots, eyes, etc.

In humor & truth I just have a heck of a time following the action. The kids are
so fast, and these Young Ladies can be very aggressive at the net attacking.

Our Football Season is also being played, I haven't gone to many games due to
My mobility/age, etc. The Volley Ball is great for me, I can sit during the games where
in football to get decent photos I need to be up moving, near or just ahead of the line of
scrimmage.

I welcome your comments, and Your Critique's. Every time someone gives me their opinion,
experience it helps me to enjoy the hobby more, and to learn. I have learned a lot from the good
folks on this Forum.

(There was a Guy named Erv Schact? not sure I got the last name right, He lived
in Medina, Ohio. When I got on the Forum Erv helped me so very much. I use to email photos to him,
He would critique, and tell me what I needed to do to improve, what Equipment, etc. I miss him. I believe
He had a stroke, and gave up Photography, and quit posting.)

And Jules has helped me, Tom tshift has always been encouraging about posting sharing photos. All very much appreciate. And to me really what a good Forum is all about.

Even at age 81 plus I find I learn something every time I use My Camera, and when You good
folks comment make a suggestion, etc., and I really believe it helps keep one's old age brain
working, etc. Vs riding a recliner doing nothing.

Have a Wonderful Weekend,

Be Well, Be Safe, and Be Blessed.

Wobble back out to our Local High Schoo for Volley Ball

Took quite a few photos, had lots of fun.

Due to My rapid mobile deterioration, and need for a walker to wobble around I hav by
passed most of the Local Football Games this Season. Electing to try Volley Ball where
I can sit more in comfort to enjoy our Youth, and My Camera Hobby.

Nikon D3s, Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 lens. 1/1000 sec, f3.2 for most of them, iso 8,000

Attempted to change Battery after the game in the D3s, and Battery hatch latch appears not to engage. So I have packed up the D3s off to the Camera Hospital to have that fixed, sensor cleaned, and estimate for Shutter replacement.

Thus the Nikon D610 will get the work if I am able to wobble out.

Everyone have a nice day, Be well, Be Blessed.

Hi Tom,

I like Your photos, great action, and they look very good.

Don't beat Yourself up, one thing you have the same Gym background as Our local High School those darn Yellowish or orange bleachers in my opinion screw up white balance, background, contrast.

Volley Ball is so fast, tough to capture. At age 81 plus I am just not capable to get the in close shots. Thus I shoot wide to give some lee way.

My old faithful Nikon D3s is off to the KEH Repair Camera Hospital (no not a case of Covid. ha) Darn Battery compartment latch I cannot remove the Battery. Gonna have them fix it, clean the sensor, and give me an estimate to replace the shutter. If it does not bankrupt the wallet will have shutter replaced while there. I have given some thought to upgrade, but love the D3s plus the time I have left being able to wobble out hardly justifies two or three grand for a new Camera.

Have a great day, Be well, Be Blessed.

Hi Jules,

Awesome Photos Thanks for sharing.

Wow 64,000 ISO...thus far 8,000, 10,000 has been the highest I have tried with My most excellent Nikon D3s.

Next came I shall crank it up higher to see how they look.

Take care.

Excellent shots Tom. I am going to my first volleyball game tonight and see if I can get any good shots. All our high schools have LED lighting now. Went to a gymnastics meet last week and all may photos had too much noise for me. The school I m going to today I remember the lighting was good. Time will tell. Keep posting. Thanks BE SAFE!

Hi Tom,

I wish our Local H. S. would install LED lighting. I have taken photos in a couple of gyms with LED Lights, and it has been great. I can lower iso a lot, and raise shutter speed, close down the aperture. My photos look much better under the LED's.

I keep struggling with hitting the focus on Sports Actions, and getting sharp photos, and of course the white balance
in these gyms. Seems each one is different, and even different in different areas of the court.

Love Your photos, please keep sharing.

Have a blessed day.

Our local High School Volley Ball Team Kids in yellow uniforms) are doing very well this season 8 & 0 on the season.

Nikon D3s, Nikon 85mm & 50mm f3.5, 1/1000 sec, iso 8,000

I know I should have used a 70-200mm to crop in closer from where I was able to sit. At age 81 plus holding the 50mm & 85mm is so much easier for me. And impossible to use a monopole with 70-200mm with the fast action or at least for me.

Just happy to be able to waddle out to the game.

Thanks to everyone for Your comments, I welcome Your opinion, critiques it has always help me learn, and improve.
I love Sports Photography, and learn something new at each game.

May I ask for some opinions, and information?

Shooting in Aperture Mode with Minimum shutter stop set. For example I want to shoot at iso 8000 @ 1/800 sec aperture say between f2.0, and 3.5. In a High School Gym. I can't seem to get it right. As the Nikon has the over ride if required it will auto drop the shutter speed down too slow for the action. (For that reason I shoot in Shutter Mode 99% of the time.) Anyone experience in shooting Aperture I would appreciate your information, and feed back.

Thanks in advance
