Not me. I keep everything in pristine condition. I keep quiet about what I have except here. I don't loan mine or ask to borrow other's stuff. I know things happen but if it does it will be on me.maybe I good way around it is, "it's in the shop."
I learned a long time ago the things you don't do. So since my kids are grown and I'm not around my grandkids, I'll tell you all what I told them;
You don't borrow another man's truck, you don't hunt with another man's dog or ask to shoot his rifle. You don't ask to ride another man's motorcycle, and you sure as Hell don't borrow anything unless you can buy him another just like it if you break it!
Stuff like that will loose you a friend faster than if you pee on his boots.
Sorry for the country bumpkin attitude but that's how I was raised.
Now on the other hand, if someone asks "me" to borrow what I have, different story. "IF" I choose to loan something I loan it with the attitude that I'm giving it away. That way if it doesn't get returned, or comes back broken. No big deal, I wrote it off when I loaned it out.[/quote]
i like the one with the shed
looking at getting a new lens and can get a used is version for 800 less than the new version what difference if any am i going to see in the pictures taken with my 7d
one thing to remember is you loose 2 steps of light. putting a light source close to the subject helped me.
saying that you have to take a quick picture of a bird or what ever goes to what i was saying. if you had spent your time learning the camera and the settings the day you need to get that once in a lifetime shot you will know how. you will be able to make the most of your opportunity.
i got a picture of one crash landing in the tree they are nesting in.
if we spent 30 minutes on every photo instead of 30 minutes on photo shopping every photo. think of the shots you would get after 6 months or a year. just think we have to a large degree developed the tendency to take lots of shots and hope we can find one good enough to photoshop a good shot from.
i'm a country boy so I thought country girl was good as it got!

LOL I just got another PM for him calling me a *country girl* ... well yeah ... that's all I've ever claimed to be hahahha as if that was an insult or something.
So I told him as politely as I could that since I rarely venture out into the forum anymore perhaps he could avoid me all together if he doesn't watch my daily challenge posts. It's quite obvious he doesn't watch too often or he never would have made that comment to me in the first place... and if he insists on harrassing me for no reason I will be forced to advise Admin on the subject. Then I told him to have a nice day.
Let's hope that is the end of it .... I'm can be the sweetest person you'd ever want to meet .... but Don't piss me off.
I used to be a Union Steward.. Teamsters.. (I'm a tough guy) ... I'm quite seasoned at dealing with idiots .. I had to deal with management on a daily basis .. and I never lost a single grievance in 11 yrs.

i have a canon 7d and was told by the canon tech guy on the phone that anything over 400x was overkill because the camera could not write any faster than that so you may want to check your specs before you spend the extra money

I've misplaced one of my CF cards. So I need another 32GB CF card. It's been about a year since I bought my last 32GB card and the prices seem to have doubled. Does anyone know of any good buys on CF cards? I would prefer fast memory - my card was a 600x 90/mbs card.

Hope you enjoy. :D
At least you know what it is. I have not been able to identify this weird bird.
if you are willing to manual focus you can get macro tube for less than ten bucks at amazon

Welcome to Day 65 :). Today let's do something simple. Flowers. They always brighten my day .. and with winter hanging on so long .. maybe it will brighten yours too.
Well I say simple but flowers seem to be my nemesis. I can never get them close enough or sharp enough. I don't own a Macro lens. So extreme closeups are pretty much
out of the question for me. Plus I keep trying to shoot them handheld instead of with a tripod. It's not like I don't know better ... maybe I'm just lazy LOL.
So paint them, photograph them, photoshop them, grab them from your archives. Flowers, flowers and more flowers.
Here are a few examples to get us started.

I was in my local camera store this morning, just browsing, and overheard a conversation between an old veteran and a newbie. The newbie was looking to buy his first digital camera. After some chit chat the newbie asked the old vet what kind of camera he had and thats when it got interesting. The old vet says I never tell anyone what kind of gear I have, for your own benefit you should research and buy whats ultimately best for you which has nothing to do with whats best for me. The old vet then offered to help the newbie with the research and that conversation was very interesting but much too long for this post. I may put something together later in another post as his advice and reasoning was fascinating. He made one particular statement that the proponents of do your own research will love and its the only argument Ive heard that gives me pause. He said that by doing your own research (regarding the purchase of a new camera) by the time you finish youll know whats best for you and youll be ready to start shooting right out of the box. Youll be asking questions like how do I do this or how do I fix that instead of asking questions like, whats this for and whats that do. I thought about that for a quite a while and as I mentioned its the one argument Ive heard that would give me a reason to say do your own research but even then it would only pertain to the purchase of new equipment. I had to leave a lot out of the conversation I overheard or this would have turned into a novel as the two chatted for at least half an hour. I stood there and intently listened to the whole thing. I couldnt resist walking up and shaking the mans hand. I told him that its rare to see that kind of help given to a complete stranger in such a caring and compassionate manner.
