if we spent 30 minutes on every photo instead of 30 minutes on photo shopping every photo. think of the shots you would get after 6 months or a year. just think we have to a large degree developed the tendency to take lots of shots and hope we can find one good enough to photoshop a good shot from.

Can't argue with that logic. I have a friend that has a tendency to do that. He'll shoot 300 photos, and end up with 4 or 5 usable. That's the problem with digital in my book. It forces us to not take enough time looking the situation over and getting that "right" shot. Sometimes you don't have the time, such as if the sun is setting fast and you want the shot, and don't want to wait another 24 hrs. I'm guilty of it too. I try to pace myself though instead of just pointing and firing a barrage of shots. They say to delete all your bad shots, but I don't because I figure eventually there will be some software that could possibly save some of them. Sure can fill up an external hard drive fast that way though! LOL

PhotoShop should not be used to fix bad shots, a bad shot should be trashed. PhotoShop is for enhancing your already good image.

To the average amateur,Photoshop contains far more than they will ever use. Other programmes, much cheaper, such as Corel or Serif PhotoPlus X5 will do most of what Photoshop does and Serif is very user friendly. Or if you really want the lot what abour Gimp?

For years, I've reckoned that 2 minutes at the taking stage can often save 10 minutes or more in Photoshop. But equally, there are times when it's quicker, easier and better to use Photoshop AS WELL.

Cheers,

R.

we get the barage shooting re enforced in action movies, how many times do you see the hero pump 15-20 rounds into the villian when 1or 2 would do.

...And then you can claim to be a photoshopper instead of a real photographer.
