"You can use your tab."
Is tab. a tablet?? like an I pad?
I did this year's ago with a general spec Sony digital camera with good results.
Labor intensive
Today's cameras would be much better.
I used natural daylight while sitting in the shade.
I have my Fathrrs film negatives and would like copy them. Any tips?
I was elk hunting in Western Wyoming in cold weather, took my scoped rifle into the trailer and scoped fogged up very badly. Almost missed my near record elk the next day. Sent the scope back to Unertl who resealed and recharged it with Nitrogn. There comment was "there is no such thing as a water/moisture proof scope" as the seals will eventually leak and moisture will enter . Probably true for cameras also.
Do not take any optics from cold to warm without a transition.
The Kodak Retina IIA was my first camera after I mastered the Kodak Box Camera. I bought it in 1950 for $125--a lot of money in those days. I used it exclusively until my Olympus OM2.
Now I have progressed to Digital.
What do you use for negatives??
Then is it possible to print positives from the scanned negatives with software and a printer?
or can the scanned negatives be used to create an electronic positive for sharing with friends?
What is best for copying old negatives?
Bodiebill
The least expensive method, but it does take time.
I used an attachment on the lens of my Digital camera. It took two slides at a time.
See B&H for slide scanner.
Sat in the garage with muted daylight through the open door.
Much of the time was spent organizing, orienting and identifying the slides.
I took awhile but I did over 2000 slides. That was my first retirement chore!
Photos to IPAD
HOW DO YOU TRANSFER PHOTOS FROM SD CARD TO IPAD?
Kodak Retina IIC in 1951. My youngest son now has it. Still in great shape and works.

Initially I plan to photograph rocks, minerals and coins. Things that stand still.

There is an inexpensive device that attaches to the lens of your Digital camera. You insert the slide, etc. and simply take a digital picture. I sat in the shade of my garage with the door open for natural lighting and took digital pictures of over 3000 slides. I believe the name of the device is Optika---see Amazon
Cameras and lenses are precision instruments. I have a shoulder bag for my canon that provides good protection, but not from dust, etc.
Lenses are frequently shipped with a special disposable bag.
Does anyone sell such bags that could be used to protect the camera and lenses from dust, water and airborne contaminants.
How do the modern "plastic" lenses compare in quality and optical performance with "glass" lenses
obviously they are lower cost.
