There is an inexpensive adapter that has the Apple connection on 1 end and card reader on the other.

Amazon has them.

There’s a dongle for that.

FA-STAR SD Card Reader, Digital Camera Reader Adapter Cable, Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, SD/TF Card Reader, Trail Game Camera Viewer for iPhone/iPad, No App Required, Plug and Play https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BGR6S87/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_M1RSBbKE6VEME

Or, you can download the SD contents to Apple Photos on a Macintosh, and bounce them to an iPhone or iPad (or both) via iCloud... automatically.

Bill - Your previous posts indicate you are using a Canon 6Ti camera. You might explore Canon software normally provided with that camera to see what options they suggest. I’ve been using Fuji cameras and have a Fuji app on my iPad that allows me to transfer image files from my camera seamlessly using WiFi and Bluetooth. Works great, but I don’t use it much because I’m not usually in that much of a hurry. You might also explore whether image files can be transferred from your camera to your iPad using iCloud or Dropbox. I do most editing on my MacBook Pro computer and export most images to social media or email as needed. I occasionally email images to myself, open the email on my iPad and use them as needed.

Perhaps you could use Lightroom to sync photos between PC and iPad.

Apple has them $28.00. Also Lighting to USB $20.00. I’ve had others from Wallmart to Best Buy, and Amazon, even one that took the CF and micro cards, but keep going back to the Apple wire. I keep an iPad with me at most times, for a quick edit n post to clients, the card adapter really helps. I also keep the lighting to USB in my bag as well.

Bfree, I have a similar issue, except i shoot with a D700 using CF cards. I have not been able to find, on the Apple website, a device that accommodates CF cards. Fortunately, there is an Apple store near me, so I will check there. And there is a Best Buy in our city and Amazon is always handy. (Altho I did check Amazon, but was not successful -- there were some offerings, but none of them enjoyed stellar reviews.)

Appreciate your help!

Duke

I use the camera built-in Wi-Fi on a regular basis. It’s not because I’m in a hurry, it’s just I have immediate archive of my photos on my phone and iCloud, view them on iPad, etc. The phone is probably most important to me as I can immediately airdrop candid photos to other family members.

1. Apple SD card adapter for SD cards. https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MJYT2AM/A/lightning-to-sd-card-camera-reader

2. Apple USB3 Camera adapter and direct connect to camera or plug a CF card reader into the USB port on the iPad adapter. https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MK0W2AM/A/lightning-to-usb-3-camera-adapter

3. Most wifi transfers do not transfer RAW files.

4. If you direct connect a camera with dual cards the images download but they are blank. Remove the second card and download works fine. Not sure if this was corrected in iOS 12.

I’ve had success transferring directly from camera to iPad using USB3 male in camera to USB male on end of supplied cable, to USB female to Lighting male adapter made by Apple. This allows me to transfer RAW images quickly for post processing.

Yes...it interferes with the cataloging workflow since I have to make the determination to edit as I’m doing the backup to the laptop and 2 external drives, but can do additional transfers later or on the laptop if I choose.

Btw, I love doing post on the iPad Pro with LR and PS, and the pencil.

I have the USB3 adapter its a bit fussy about power and often will refuse a device for drawing too much power, a powered USB Hub will usually make these devices work. rather oddly even without power to the hub sometimes they still work.
