Cameras and lenses are precision instruments. I have a shoulder bag for my canon that provides good protection, but not from dust, etc.
Lenses are frequently shipped with a special disposable bag.
Does anyone sell such bags that could be used to protect the camera and lenses from dust, water and airborne contaminants.
I must say, from your description, that you must not do any photography with this equipment. You simply seal it away in hermetically sealed containers and look at it. For my 35mm digital or film cameras, this bag works exceptionally well and has for over 15 years or more. For rain protection, I have a large garbage bag folded up and stored inside the bag.

I've been using Ziploc bags for years. They keep dust and moisture out and come in many sizes.

I also use the gallon ziplocs if I'm in very difficult conditions, but there is a special line by, IIRC, "OpTech". They're available on Amazon. Don't leave lenses and gear in them too long those, as they can encourage condensation.
I like Bob's bag, shown above for a general purpose bag. We use solid but pricey Billingham bags for our everyday carry. Built ruggedly of waterproof canvas with leather trim and lots of "double protection" with flaps and zippers. There are many others if you want the most weathertight bags.

As you say, Cameras are precision instruments BUT the manufacturers have engineered them to be used under the expected conditions. With just routine precautions the cameras will function for years.
They are designed to be in zipped up camera bags and protected from direct water and dirt.
If you need to take the camera into unusual conditions, such as the beach or a raft trip down the New River, then you need to take special precautions.

In ordinary conditions, I've never seen dust as being a problem with camera or lens, except for appearance on the outside. If conditions are extremely bad, then something as simple as ziplock bags or even clear plastic wrap would keep the dust out.
Thanks Andy.
That reminds me, I need to remove my camera lens from the plastic bag that was sent in for service/repair a few weeks ago...
