John, I got 2 stands, 2 umbrellas and 2 45w cfl's from cowboy for about the same and UPS wasted the gas.

This sounds like what I use only that I use 4 light stands. 2 of them with a 4' piece of pvc pipe on them and just drape a sheet of cloth over it. (you can get rement cloth at the local fabric store in any color you could want.) I also use 2' by 2' foam board from Staples as a background and also for a reflector. (I'm talking less that $150.)

Hope this helps you.

You people are amazing. Even though I've taken a couple of photo shop elements courses, I find new, helpful tips almost every day. This forum is great. Thank you!

slo, can you give any more info on the Wacom Capture Pen.
I hear that is the thing in photo editing right now... Do you think it is worth having. I work with Layers a lot and do some tedious work. Is it a pain to change back and forth.

Just google Wacom Tablet and you'll have a lot of information. Or, just go to e-bay and search for Wacom.

I hear it takes some getting used to.

About a couple of days of use and it becomes like second nature. This thing is a must for processing photos in Photo shop, Elements etc.

Here's an interesting thought. Light it from underneath, with strobe or led. Should give it a real mystryical look.
Just a thought...

I just got "the Photoshop Elements 11 Book for Digital photographers by Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski which I highly recommend. Very easy to read and very well organized. You don't get "techied" to death... about $30 Amazon.com. Also Adobe has a DVD Training Course "Learn Photoshop Elements 11 Today" from Adobe also about $30 and very, very helpful. Also take advantage of the various tutorials on 11 online from Adobe... and if you want to get really down to the nitty gritty of what Elements 11 can do consider joining "photoshopelementsuser.com.

photoshopelementsuser.com is a great resorce for Elements. They will send you tips each month on line. Well worth the membership. Scott and Matt have probably forgotten more about elements than most of us will ever learn. Good luck!

Robin, thank you for you service to our country. There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum, if you can overlook the stupidity of a select few. Please keep asking questions and be proud of your service to your country. We're proud of you and don't ever forget it. Good luck with your new camera and Merry Christmas!
