I will be getting PSE 11 for Christmas and want to get a manual to go along. I haven't seen anything on this in the posts. I'm aware of the "Missing Manual" and the regular PSE guide by the company. Can anyone recommend which one, or another one, is the best one to have in the tool box? Thanks

What kind of manual? The kind that says here's the options in the File menu and what each one does or the kind that gives you a project and teaches by doing?

the first mainly and the second, desirably. As I said, the two I see out there are the Adobe proprietary guide and the Missing Manual.

They've done one for all previous versions, so I'm sure that Scott Kelby and Matt Kozlowski wii have a "Digital Photographers Guide to Elements 11" manual out by now, or soon. They are excellent for learning by doing with step by step instructions and copious photo examples. Recommend highly

well, for the project side of things I thoroughly enjoyed Exquisite Expressions with Photoshop Elements 9 by Jim Karuse. Yes, it was written when 9 was current but in the advanced mode which is where this book works the versions are still quite similar. 9 had layer masks which was a huge step forward. It's well written and all the images he works on in the book are available for download if you want to do the exact same thing.

Look at Scott Kelby "the Photoshop Elements 11 book". You will find it at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. His books are rated highly by Hogs- have this and his book on Lightroom. They are both excellent.

Matt Kloskowski is a co-author of the Elements book and some other Kelby books. He is excellent at the software.

Here is a good one, "Teach yourself Visually....photoshop elements" I have the version for 10 but I would think they have an 11. Maybe...look it up and see for yourself. I bought mine on Amazon.

Hi Noknees,
I have PSE 11 and got the Barbara Brundage's "The Missing Manual". Excellent, it explains everything much better than the help guide that is with PSE 11.

Regards

Gerry

Depending on how much you want to spend I have found this site to be one of the best out there; kelbytraining.com. the yearly fee is $199 but it gives unlimited access to their training videos on Adobe products as well as great training videos on all things photography. Check it out. The training videos are informative, entertaining and easy to understand. I have had great success with this group of instructors (they are the ones that do the one day seminars for Photoshop around the country and they have written many books on the subject they teach). The training is not just for the novice so as you get better you can take different courses to add to your knowledge. If you are already advanced there are a lot of things for you too. Checking it out is free and I believe there might be a class or two available at no charge to see if it's right for you. Good luck!

I too use PSE 11; setup from 7. I find the "Missing Manual" very good if your somewhat familar with prior versions of PSE.
Still reading the book; have PSE 11 on when I do and as I read each section work with a photo to make sure I understand what to do.

Good luck.
