Beautiful shot.
Did you take this in WV, or were you in New England?
Did you rework any of the colors?
I tried to get some foliage here on Long Island, but I either missed it or the season hasn't peaked yet. This is what I got today. I've been watching this spot (it's along a parkway) for several years and finally took my 1st today.
Your colors are far better!
I'm a big fan of "beefing up" colors, but #2 is way too much, even for me. I like what au2panner did in their #2, but I think I would have toned that down a tad, too.
I don't know about the changing orientation that fstop12 did, but the crop certainly took out a chunk of debris that it didn't need. IMHO.
Let me try to give this a shot. If you got good results with a 55mm lens you have to remember that it requires a little less light. A long lens (I have the same one. Came with my 5100.) requires more light so it's more difficult to get a faster shutter speed. So, here's the problem. The moon is constantly moving so you need a faster shutter speed.
Hope I answered this correctly.
Here's a few of my favorites
Cocatoo - Mill House VT Very Old Picture
2 - Headed Goat - Whitepost Farm
Seals on a Buoy - Alaska
Did you see the eagle where you live in Mass? First time I ever saw one in the wild was Alaska.
Usually, if you Google the camera & model number, you'll find a lot of resources. Generally they are in .PDF format which you can download and refer to anytime since it's on your computer already.
Hope you don't shoot anything inside with your 9mm and .38 special.
Thought I'd throw these in. It's an Osprey that has a nest on a signpost (picture enclosed) on a parkway. I stopped my car to take a picture and by the time I got the camera ready he was flying off.
The last picture is a different Osprey...same area, sitting on a lightpost.

OK, this is what I love to do...edit pictures.
I took out the pole/dead tree, darkened the shadows & highlights a bit, and tweaked the focus.
Better? Yes, or no? I won't be insulted.

Wish my cell took that good of a picture...Nice...! Linda
Thanks Linda! I really appreciate that. I think the ENv is like 3.3 megapixels, but the new phone I ordered (iPhone 4S) will probably do better, although I prefer my cameras.
I had a lot of editing to do on it.

Little Ducks in a Row
Nice ducks! I like the last one best.
There's plenty of free stuff around. I have Photoshop 7.0, but mostly use an old, and no longer supported program called Microsoft Digital Image Pro. If you want, I can try to do it.
Beautiful landscape! It's even better after the focus was sharpened. Can you remove the tree/pole in the middle? It seems to divide the picture.
