Very nice shots out of 12k I bet you got more than 20. Life is an amazing thing to observe in its raw beauty like this.

If you look out of the window on the door, you can see that the scene outside is blown out. It's just not obvious in this photo because it's a small area in the overall indoor scene.

Amen to that. Some here seem to think they are the masters and only they can get the shot right in one try. The image has a LOT of lighting issues. Under exposed interior and a blown out window. Unless that was the intention of the shot. Bracketing would have solved this and would have had a lot more detail.

Shop online for one to fit your budget pick a few and Google those to get an UNBIASED view. To those of you who have money to throw around spend hundreds on one if you want and brag about it to others who are easy to impress. I would rather spend that money on fast glass first way more useful in the long run and a better investment.

Just because it costs triple does not make it better. Same for vehicles my Mitsubishi Outlander sport gets me a lot of places a Land Rover does for a fraction of the cost.

"Not that difficult " is over rated.
Over the years I have learned that I am good at taking things apart, but awful at reassembling.
I'm also a bit ham-handed when it comes to working on delicate items.
Better I leave this to the Pros!

There is nothing to take apart. Lock mirror up and use a clean swab.

I got one not Nikon, on ebay for my 7100. I have not been disappointed by it one bit and it preforms great. Not all of us have deep pockets full of expendable cash. Besides most of what you are paying for is the Nikon name.

Also have a third party grip on my d3200 also have never had problems with it over 5 years. Don't get hung up too much on brand names. Nikon makes a ton of profit on all the extras it sells.

I see posts like this a lot here. Always asking for the best spots. Be unique get on Google maps and study the terrain don't always go for the shots that have been taken a hundred times go fot the shots no one has seen before or made the time to stop and take.

Roosevelt park would be one of my stops also but I would look for the obscure locations people do not normally get to see otherwise they are just vacation snapshots everyone has.

Both have problems with the chair sticking out of the bouquet. The first one is a little over exposed. The second one appears a little crooked easy fix in post. I prefer the second one due to the colors being better.

Be very very careful. Experienced photographers are closing up shop everywhere. The digital cameras and the cell phones have absolutely killed the profession. It used to be if one did not know what they were doing with film, it would cost a fortune to film a wedding, task or event. One could charge a decent fee for their services. Not so today. A rookie can put a high end camera on automatic, take a high volume of pictures, and have enough keepers to satisfy some clients. Defensive photographers will not admit it, but it is a fact. At events, I turn my daughter loose as a second shooter with one of my high end cameras set to automatic, and I am often pleased with the photos she takes. She doesn't know Jack about the triangle of photography or composition. And all of us photographers know it. The high end cameras are killing us.

In addition to just the camera, a complete knowledge of Photoshop and Lightroom are a must which takes years to truly be proficient with their use. My advice: Get a good day job to support this activity as a hobby or part time venture. For most, the money is gone in photography. For many, the cell phone is good enough and making great advances in quality every day.

The shots will only look the same if you compose it the same as everyone else. Try and be creative with it. Composition is always key in getting your images to stand out from the rest.

With those feelings might as well sell the camera because most likely someone else has already shot it and they all look the same right?

Seeing most of the post here is why I believe our country is lost. Most of you treat these clowns in Government like the are your favorite sports team.

Wake up and realize they all care about themselves first, family second, pockets third, country and people come in last.

You liberals really think Obama was a great president? We printed and spent our way out of the recession and all that money will come due. He has never worked a hard day in his life and was spoon fed everything. Many of the rest of us his age had to work hard for what we got and still do.

As far as Trumpty dumpty he is a bafoon who lies all the time.

Point being they Are all the same the only difference is where and who they throw a bone to and you people go on and on with nothing but trash talk. This is you country man put a little more thought into who you pick to run it.

Maybe take shots of the eclipse and later layer them onto the scene you want! I have never done this so I cannot tell how, but I'm sure the folks here can!

Create a fake image of an event such as this?
There will be plenty of juvenile images like this following and gullible people who believe. Photograph the truth not a lie.

That's a great shot. Unfortunately though, it appears it was taken either earlier or later than the midday timing of totality in my area (western NC). So, the sun looks like it was closer to the horizon and more likely to be captured with a wide angle lens. Maybe people on the west coast will have a better opportunity than us east coasters. Good luck with it wherever you are.

He could shoot a vertical shot.

Why do you who are planning to view the eclipse wait until now? Poor planning on your part does not create an emergency for me.

With the most sincere respect, I think UHH members have gone totally nuts preparing for an event where the so-called "totality" will last just a few minutes tho the "waxing/waning" will be a bit longer. Numerous professional scientists will be recording images with extremely high grade cameras and telescopes, and those images will be published in every way possible around the world. /Ralph
