Plan on completing one of the items on my bucket list. ND is the only state out the 50 I have not visited. Would like some good sites to visit. Like history, wildlife and scenery. Know that Roosevelt NP is one that is good, but don't have many other ideas. Will be going mid Sept. Coming from Michigan UP across northern Wisconsin and Minnesota.
I have not been there but I have heard that Teddy Roosevelt National Park is quite scenic..
I see posts like this a lot here. Always asking for the best spots. Be unique get on Google maps and study the terrain don't always go for the shots that have been taken a hundred times go fot the shots no one has seen before or made the time to stop and take.
Roosevelt park would be one of my stops also but I would look for the obscure locations people do not normally get to see otherwise they are just vacation snapshots everyone has.

Try Jamestown and northeast to Woodworth.
I would recomment the North Dakota view of Mount Rushmore (in South Dakota).
crazycarol hit it on the nose. don't take the freeways, take the side roads. Take the time to eat at a small town café. Listen to the locals conversation. Photo the grain bins, farm equipment, people, buildings, abandoned equipment and cars. Same as anywhere else, but a lot more miles between stops.
Fort Union National Monument near Williston
Theodore Roosevelt National Monument
Garrison Dam and Oahe Dam, both corps of engineers dams with visitor facilities

As you enjoy history and scenery, try following the Lewis & Clark route via highways 1804 (westbound) or 1806 (return route), with stops at a number of museums and route waypoints, as well as some interesting prairies and Native American historical sites. Some of those North Dakota roads will make you believe they were constructed just for you as you sometimes will not have a car in sight through either the windshield or the rear view mirror. Enjoy and have fun !
