Here's how to enjoy the eclipse

I can't seem to get all excited about shooting an eclipse. The shots will all look basically the same anyhow. Much like shots of the moon. I AM going to be outside at the time though to experience it.

My thoughts also especially since in this area we will only get a partial eclipse if it is not overcast. I figure there will be a bazillion photos and videos of the event. However I was thinking about going up to Flint Rd and video the city as it goes dark then light again. But I don't think it will get all that dark, partial eclipse and all.

The shots will only look the same if you compose it the same as everyone else. Try and be creative with it. Composition is always key in getting your images to stand out from the rest.

With those feelings might as well sell the camera because most likely someone else has already shot it and they all look the same right?

wrong. It's not like there are different angles you can take the shot from. I guess you can put different colored filters on it. There are many different subjects to shoot with different viewpoints and angles and exposures with anything else. But this???

I was planning on driving north to get to the center of the eclipse. But I was warned that the freeway will be packed and there will be thousands of people there.

I wonder how many will just point their DSLR toward the sun and start shooting. How many sensors are going to be fried doing this without proper filters? No doubt some idiot will sue Nikon, Canon, Sony, or whoever because their sensor would not stand up to a direct shot of the sun. Next week it will be interesting to read the posts on the Hog!
