tomcat says "If they had stuck with USA suppliers back 50 years ago..."

Yeah, but it seems to take a population at least 3 generations (4 for politicians) to understand the big picture and how one thing impacts another, the law of unintended consequences, et cetera.

SpacenerdSteven needs a fourth telescope.

OK, but what did you take that photo with?

I have but a lowly 3.5-inch Questar; been thinking myself that I need something with more reach.

To BigDen: As a former Canadian I can attest to the fact that Canadians are much more aware of and interested in and affected by things that happen in the U.S.A. than Americans are in their closest and largest trading and national defense partner. Rehess claims your remarks about hunger is false, so he must not have been watching any U.S. television for the last two weeks and missed the mile-long queues at food banks around the country, some of the twenty-five million jobless, incomeless people stuck waiting in their cars for hours to secure hand-out victuals for their families. A lot of Americans are not eating as well as they were a couple of months ago.

COJ wrote: "...may have been true in February but right now the death toll in the US is over 50,000. The US can claim almost 25% of the c****-** deaths in the world."

Not necessarily true! Because much of the testing for the v***s has been guesswork due to not having isolated its core components, thus getting positive results from a variety of similar v***ses, the numbers of cases around the country and the world are unproven speculation based on wild computer "modelling".

Add in the CDC's ridiculous guidelines to classify all fatalities--car accidents, cancer and even gunshot wounds--as C****-** deaths if there is even a suspected(!) contact with this C****av***s, and the precise count of C****-**-caused deaths are a wild guess. WHO has promulgated the same guidelines, promoting the same panic.

The reported cases and fatalities have been used to govern us by fear. More afraid than they've ever been, the most brave and confident people in the world are cowering in isolation, hording toilet paper! How else but through fear could the greatest economy, ever, be so wounded? Almost every news anchor has alarm in his or her voice when talking about the situation; every hopeful example immediately contradicted with a grim prediction of it possibly getting worse. I remember when people broadcasting the news would report the most disastrous happenings in calm voices, unbiased by emotions, their personal feelings expressed with their vocabulary, not their tone. Not so nowadays, rather with breathless declarations of disaster.

Have you noticed how the Democrats in this country are high-fiving and practically dancing with glee at the prospect of the President losing office because of this? And keeping the core of our economy on the brink of bankruptcy by purposely delaying recovery funding? Never let a crisis go to waste!

Stay healthy, folks, in body and mind!

Recently some well-accredited physicians from the U.S. and other countries have decried the "Lockdown mentality" as inimical to the general health of a population, because such a response delays development of "herd immunity". The medical basis for this is that humans acquire immunity to v***ses and other disease organisms by contacting them in normal life situations with other humans.

Thus prolonged isolation and reduced contact with others is actually "anti-health". Current, more reliable testing methods are indicating that the overall infection rates are enormously higher than previously thought and that the fatality rates are far, far lower than previously claimed, even less that 1 per cent!

Don't ask me to quote the sources; I didn't think to write them down at the time.

Most remotes have a thin rubber-like membra or warp just enough that normal pressure doesn't make contactne between the buttons and the circuit board (likely to keep the keys from damaging the board). Sometimes over longer usage the circuit board can bend or warp just enough that normal pressure isn't enough to create contact--usually happens with one or two keys. I nave fixed a couple such incidences by inserting paper or thin cardboard behind the circuit board to keep it closer to the keypad.

I receive SS, my wife does not yet. Neither income exceeds non-filing limits. Don't know whether we'll get one, two or no check. We joint-filed anyway, as per IRS directions. Still waiting to see if filing is accepted.

Mike finds "this film is somewhat apolitical."

I have to agree. It was well directed with (to me) a surprising turn away from the wannabe earth savior zealots image of being heroes, to being hypocritical and acting antithetically to their own stated beliefs.

Have you ever heard any Democrat anywhere, anytime, ever, disagree with him?

rehess asked "Where did you hear this number?"

I haven't heard that exact figure before, but have come across similar estimates from insurance and bank institutions, based partly on international savings habits. Apparently a larger number of Americans invest surplus cash than build simple savings accounts, whereas a larger percentage of Canadians, for example, are savers versus investors. Investors are more susceptible to market volatility and can be devastated rather quickly should regular income be interrupted.
