Most, if not all, of the facilities listed in the Museums Council of NYC - http://www.museumscouncil.org/ - have at least one day that offers free admission. For the Bronx Zoo and the NY Botanical Gardens )just north of the Zoo across Fordham Rd) it's Wednesday, and the NY Botanical Gardens offers free admission on Saturday morning from 9-10.

If you plan ahead, NYC can be a world class bargin. Just take a serious look at the cost of the competition: London, Paris, Amsterdam, Singapore, Sydney, etc. We in the US don't appreciate what a treasure we have. The same is true for Washington DC, Phidelphia, Los Angeles, San francisco, and many more US cities.

This cruise is inside passage, not Northwest passage. It is still a marvelous experience. Highly recommended.

OOPs Correct my earlier statement above. I reversed two digets in the area code. 321 is in fact a Florida phone number.

USA Precheck or US Global Entry, if you fly internationaly, are the easiest ways to clear US security/immigration with minnimum delay. Either are well worth the time and cost.

My 97 year old Mother was an avid world traveler after she retired. She woul take "snapshot" photos of her travels, and would frequently invite family to join her on the travels, and, of course, they were included in the photographs. After completing a cruise, or land tour, she would create a scrapbook memorializing her travel. Our Mother and the family still enjoy sharing them, and they will always be a family treasure..

Good morning Jerry;

Just wanted to thank you Jerry for your excellent (as usual) selection of articles giving the OP and others that request info such a broad selection of informational sites to view. I know from my own experiences reading your daily post I have gained valuable information. Please keep up your excellent assistance to new members and others looking for information.
Best regards,
Garth

I second Tigger1 (Garth's) comments. I find your posts and references to outside resources always extraordinarily helpful. Thank you.

When is this festival. I always see pics and rave reviews but have never attended.

Always the first two weeks in October. The Ballon Fiesta has an excellent web site. Check out Albuquerque Ballon Fiesta on line.

-We live in Albuquerque and always attend the Ballon Fiesta if we are not traveling outside the country. Recommend you go to Ballon Fiesta web site and check out the Gondola Club.You pay extra admission, but receive premium parking, free transportation to the club site, a great view of the ballon grounds, a complimenatry buffet meal and open bar. You can also get complimantary golf cart transportation to the ballon launching field. Not cheap, but very well worth the money if you can afford it.

Having lived and worked in Jordan over a number years, I covered just about every square inch in all conditions, including snow (yes snow, and not on mountain peaks). What you will want, if capturing all the beauty and history is your goal, is the highest quality and widest selection of lenses that you have and can carry. I did not, and years later, I still regret my decision.

Having been to Jordan and Egypt on numerous occasions, both for business and pleasure, I agree with this commentator's approach. Take all the equipment you can reasonably carry on the trip, and plan each day's shooting carring only what you are anticipating using that day. The photographic opportunities are endless, and will stretch your photographic skills and equipment's capabilities unless you are only interested in snapshots. If you have more than a brief couple of days in Amman, strongly recommend you consider a day trip to the vast Roman ruins at Jerash. They are an easy 40-50 mi drive outside Amman and compare favorably with the better known ruins at Pompeii and in Turkey. We are returning to the region in April/May this year.

Take reasonably prudent measures to protect your equipment and your person, as you would in NYC, SFO, or any other major world tourist location, but threats to person or property should not be exaggerated. Common sense applies here. Most importantly, have a wonderful trip.

Thank you all for this string. I have similar fine motor coordination issues with my hands and walking that were discussed here, and this discussion was most helpful.
