Hopefully, now I can take my foot off the Gas.
Last year, at this time I purchased a Nikon D500, and a couple lenses (I did have the foresight to by FX lenses for the future). Yesterday I picked up my new D850, after agonizing about it for months (I'm retired, and not rich). One of the things I love about the D850 is that besides using the FX lenses I bought, I can still use any of the DX lenses I've acquired over the years, by turning on the "Auto DX crop" function in the imaging area of the shooting menu. I want to thank the members here for bringing that to my attention. It was one of the keys in helping me make the decision to buy it.
It sounds like you're all set for a while. Have fund and get to learn those cameras inside and out.
Thanks. The only real problem I have now is the decision to go out and play with my “New Toy”, or watch the NCAA Tournament games this weekend. I love this Tournament.

Well, that’s the way the ball bounces...
Oh you need to worry, Duke can win it without your cheering them on. Get out there and shoot!
Once the "Madness" is over, I for one would like to know your take on how the D500 and D850 compare in the field for an avid photog. I have often heard that the D500 is the APS-C version of the D850. Does one handle better? How do images of the same subject compare? You know, nerdy stuff.

Enjoy your D850, it is a true wonder of technology.
Take your foot off the gas???
That's just crazy.
Put that pedal to the metal and go for the gusto.
Enjoy, you made good choices with both the D500 and the D850.

Enjoy both bodies. I have the d-500 along with the occasional GAS attacke for the 850. Maybe someday.
Just note when using the DX feature, you lose more than 1/2 your pixels. However, 45.7/1.5/1.5 = 20.3 MP. That is still a detailed photo.
