BTW for me it is different with cats. I like them looking at me.

For me (and most others on the forum) it is all about the emotion that the photo invokes. For dogs it is about the eyes, the tilt of the head, ... I usually like the photo where the subject is looking off in to the distance.

I build my own PC's and wont go into the cost. One thing I did that I really am glad I did was get a monitor and video card that can display 98% of the sRGB color space. This was a few years ago and there may be combinations that can display 100% now.

It is difficult for a UPS driver to leave items at the wrong address at least here in the sacramento area. If the driver scans an item for delevery and the GPS does not indicate the correct address, the driver cannot complete the scan. I have walked up to the truck and had the driver scan the wrong package and they get an error on their unit. He then found the correct package and completed the scan correctly. Seems like a fairly fool proof method.

Dreamer - you've piqued my interest, there … who makes an 80mm Macro Lens?

Woops sorry it is a 105mm 2.8 Sigma, it is a really nice lens. BTW I have a ring flash that I use with both lenses. Helps with exposure and DOF (larger F STOP).

I have a 80mm and a 180mm. I tend to use the 180 most because I like to photograph small "animals" such as frogs, and bugs. Less likely to spook them.

I think the bench becomes the focal point in the B&W pic.

I worked construction for a short time when I was much younger. I thought it was really funny to hear the old salts argue as to what the best hammer was. To me it was just a tool.

Canon recomends a front filter of some kind to aid their "water resistant" lenses. I guess if you are shooting in the rain it could be important.

I use a Microsoft Surface Pro-4 and have for a number of years. Don't do a lot of editing on the laptop, but it works well. The main reason I picked it was it's size, very easy to carry and it's a very capable computer. The one I hav has 8GB memory and a 256 GB SSD. In addition it has a slot for a mini ssd on the back that I have installed a 256 GB sd. It has worked great for me.

There is a story that when DST was first proposed a member of congress from a mid-western state objected because the extra hour of sunlight would burn his state's crops!

I use to ride my bicycle to work. It would never trigger traffic lights. If cars were behind me I would wait else I would just go through after careful check. I got cought by a red light camera a couple of times but I am sure they had no way of identifying me.

Canon has EF and EF-S mount lenses. The EF can be used on all of the current cameras with exception of the mirror-less cameras. The EF-S can only be used on the APS-C cameras. The back of EF-S lenses protude to far back in the camera and the mirror would hit it. Canon also has it's "L" series lenses, which are all EF, what it considers "professional". The L series build quality is better, the IQ is better and the cost is higher.

This is a somewhat simple explanation as they often have more than one lens with simular specs.
