This is just a little shout out for Samy's Camera.
I have, or have had just about every brand of digital camera except for the real high dollar ones, like Leica and Hasselblad.
But I have never had a Canon DLSR. I have an assortment of Canon EF lenses that I use with an adapter on my Fuji X-T30 mirrorless. So I wanted to get a Canon DSLR that didn't cost a whole lot of money to try out.
I get email adverts from Samy's Camera, so I decided to see what they had in their used camera section.
Looking through their listings I found a Canon EOS 650D body for $80. It was rated very good (8).
It came with a battery, charger, a 1 year parts and labor warranty, and free shipping. So I placed the order for it.
I got it in about 3 days. It was packed very nicely in bubble wrap and in a big box full of foam peanuts.
I was surprised when I unpacked everything to find that I not only got the camera, charger and battery ,but also a 50mm, f1.8 lens also. The camera was in in like new condition with no marks, dings or scratches anywhere on it. Tried it out and everything works like it should on it.
I did a shutter count check on it and it only has 3071 actuations.
I am a very satisfied customer and will not hesitate to buy from Samy's again.

This is just a little shout out for Samy's Camera.... (show quote)

I'm in Orange County, Southern California. There are several Samy's here. I shop in the Santa Ana one. They're very professional, courteous, helpful. I've bought quite a few items from them and have been satisfied. Never bought anything used; they've offered a very lowball price for my used equipment so maybe that's why they can offer low prices on used stuff.

Looking for a very simple method of categorizing and storing photos on a computer. Seen many suggestions for sophisticated storage capabilities and edits. Just need a simple storage. Thanks.

My method, fwiw, is - camera name/year/event/date.

Example - Canon 5D3/2018/Chile Atacama/Sep-12.

I'd recommend that whenever you place one of those cards into a camera, reformat it in the camera.

I second this recommendation. It's really simple - format any card when you insert it in camera body.

My Sony alpha a350 hadn't been used in a while. When I started it up the battery read 100%. 5 minutes later it died. How does this happen?

You don't say whether the battery was inside the body during non-operation. Batteries will drain over time so it's best to take them out if the camera is not going to be used for awhile. Then charge the battery prior to use; remember to set up date and time if needed.

I have been re-formatting my cards after downloads, but I'm wondering if I should be deleting images instead. Any thoughts?

It goes beyond that for me. I shoot a lot on trips, several thousands images, using several cards. I switch cards when they get to about half full so I may end up with 6,7 or more cards. Once I get back home the images get down-loaded to a HD, checked for proper down-load and post-processed.
The cards are formatted in camera only after I'm sure everybody survived. The format brings everything on the card to a fresh start.

I'm happy with the Dell U2720Q monitor. It has your specs and is at the same price range.
I'll second that you should look at your graphics card to see if it supports the new monitor - resolution, connection (Display Port or HDMI).

There have been numerous times in the discussions here where the cost of film and the concept that it's free to shoot digital are mentioned. So, let's take a look at this misguided concept. The facts and figures presented here are from personal experience. Additionally, they are mainly focused on 35mm as that is the closest format to what most are using here.

I added some additional formats just for grins.

Film expense:
1 roll of 100ft Ilford HP5 - $80.00
1 liter of developer Ilford DD-X - $20.00
1 gallon of Kodak fixer - $13.00

100 feet of film yields 18 rolls of 36 exposures. The cost per exposure $0.12
1 liter of developer - can process 50 rolls or 900 exposures. The cost per exposure $0.02
1 gallon of fixer - can process 50 rolls or 900 exposures. The cost per exposure $0.01

Thus, each exposure costs $0.15

A Nikon D850 is priced at $3000. Thus, for the cost of a Nikon D850 body only, one could shoot 20000 photographs.

For 120 film that's 4,751 exposures using 2-1/4x2-3/4 cameras and 5,660 exposures for 2-1/4x2-1/4 format

Using 4x5 film will provide me 1,477 exposures.

So, all in all, it's not as expensive as one might profess.

The proper, correct comparison is between the price for film, darkroom materials vs. digital storage media like SD, post processing software. Others have pointed out that both film and digital have one time costs (ignoring GAS) such as cameras, lenses, darkroom equipment, computers, hard drives.
I, for one, consider digital as inexpensive once you have the hardware.
Another major point is that one can shoot as many digital images as wanted at no additional cost.

You have lots of choices. I use Google Photos just for that purpose. When I take pictures for a group, I put them into an album, click on share, get a link, and send it to people in the group. They can download or print the pictures.

This is exactly my method of sharing post-processed images with members of travel groups. Works very well once you set up your workflow.

Thank you

I got a better price when selling to MPB, both bodies and lenses.

For what it's worth - I went through a similar process recently. I got a Dell U2720Q which has a 4k, 3,840 X 2,160 resolution. My 4 years old PC has a Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 graphics card. I called Nvidia to confirm that the card supports the 4k resolution; the customer support guy confirmed that it does. The card has both Display Port and HDMI ports. The monitor came with cables for both and I connected both. The card is about 5 years old so I may not be getting all that the monitor offers but it gives me full 4k resolution. A new card was over $400 so I decided to stick to the current one. I'll wait for a new PC to upgrade the card.

Your full-frame lenses are the weight. Doesn't everyone say micro 4/3rds and their native lenses the best way to save weight?

I concur. I moved from a Canon 5D/3 with a bunch of lenses to an Olympus E-M1 Mk2 system. It makes a huge difference when traveling.

I got a Dell UltraSharp U2720Q a couple of weeks ago. I'm very happy with it - 27", 4k, DP and HDMI ports, USB-C input. Just make sure your graphics card supports the resolution.

What to look for when buying a new monitor/tv for Photoshop/Lightroom, etc post processing?

I just got the Dell U2720Q. It's IPS, 4k (3,840X2160), DP & HDMI connections, USB-A & C, factory calibrated. Dell had it for ~485 + tax. Very nice display, good colors. I also got a X-Rite colorimeter from B&H. Make sure your graphics card will support the resolution and the type of connections your new monitor needs.
