Back when I used to work for a living (Ugh!) I was a radar engineer. Most radars used a logarithmic amplifier in the receiver front end - weak signals would get more amplification than stronger ones. Do we KNOW that the DSLR sensors are linear? Or maybe the Fuji referenced in the previous hyperlink increases the gain on the shadow end. Why would it be significantly different than the other two in the article?

RedRiver just solved this same problem for me. Tell LR the paper is 11x17 and put a 3.00" border on the bottom.

Memo to self: Think twice before critiquing anyone's photos on the Hog!

BTW, the first comment after the article was priceless.

I just received my rebate last week from the company Canon uses to process claims. It took about two months. I lost a month because they tried to claim I didn't send in the "proper" invoice. I had submitted the shipping email from B&H. After a phone call B&H stepped in on my behalf and straightened them out. I didn't have to do anything extra. B&H for president!!!

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use roll paper with a Pixma Pro 100? Don't want to spend the $$$ just to find out it won't work. I did my due diligence and searched the Hog, but no joy.

If you get lucky and they offer ($$$) rides, do it. This was shot at ISO 200, f9, 1/250s. A half hour in a B-17 was worth $150. I was so stoked by the sounds and the smells that I went home and watched Gregory Peck in 12 O'Clock High one more time!

I just got back a week ago from a 12 day self-drive trip around Iceland. We used Tour Iceland (http://www.tour.is) as our tour company. They were great - nothing but good comments to make about them. We chose to arrive on 1 September to take advantage of a 15% off season discount. Looking back, that may have been a mistake. I think I would have been better off spending the extra money and going mid-summer. The weather we had was bad for photography. Temps were OK (54 Deg every day) but the sky was overcast most of the time. I had one night to get aurora shots. Oh, and be ready for wind like you've never seen. Ever driven a small car on a mountain road in winds measured over 100 mph? I have - not fun. Doing a self-drive may cause a problem if you are hard over about being at locations before sunrise or until after sunset. Do lots of research/planning and have fun!
