Does anyone have any experience using Carbonite for backup storage. I have about terabytes of images stored on a Drobo and need to back it up.

Been using it for years and very satisfied, also have 2 local drives I use as well, 2 G Drives, one is a clone of my iMac and the other is just files, photo's and documents. Also just loaded a trial of Mylio. www.mylio.com Check it out, cool stuff. Their tag line "The next generation photo management system is here.
All of your photos. All of your devices. Always protected."

edit " I initially backed up about 1 TB Data using Xfinity Internet service and it took a while but once that was done incremental backups are quick and reliable. I had a HD go after a replacement and was able to recover all my files. I like the security and convenience of multiple copies both on site and at a secure remote location"

For pros, what high end point and shoot cameras would you look at? Shooting RAW, fast and consistant aperture, decent focal range, view finder (?).....
Thanks

Panasonic LX100
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonic-lumix-dmc-lx100

From DP Review:
"-Excellent stills image quality - especially in Raw
-Unsurpassed combination of large sensor and bright lens
-Impressive and usable video capabilities
-Comprehensive and well-designed direct controls (with good customization options)
-Fast, responsive behavior
-Classic looks and handling provide gratifying user experience
-Packed with features (4K Photo, Stop Motion Animation, Time Lapse)
-Extensive Wi-Fi options
-Image stabilization effectively stabilizes stills (less useful for video)"

"However, the key thing is that, despite its ambitious design, the lens performs well across most focal lengths and apertures, and the sensor performance means the camera is able to lives up to the expectations its spec sheet sets. Taken together, this means the LX100 will continue to offer excellent image quality in a broad range of shooting conditions."

I have been using generic switches for several years now and have not had a problem with them. A photo group I've become associated with has monthly studio sessions and all their lighting equipment is set up for Pocket Wizards. It looks like Plus ii, the Plus iii, and the Plus X are the most common. I have read and understand the differences in the models but would like input as to the reliability of one vs the other models. Does the dial on the Plus X work as well as the push button on the other models? Are 10 channels really needed or has 4 channels been enough for everyone on this blog? Does anyone have reliable source other than the usual NY guys that might discount the price of these or does anyone have reliable units for sell?
I have been using generic switches for several yea... (show quote)

Pocket Wizards are Manufactured in VT and all their models are extremely reliable. The dial works just as well. Four channels are enough unless you are on a shoot with more than 4 other photographers all of whom are using pocket wizards. Pocket Wizards are fair traded in that they set the price so unless you buy second hand the price should be the same.

Any ideas or inside info about tele lenses longer than 300mm for micro 4/3 olympus.

Olympus will soon be releasing their M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 300mm 1:4 PRO which I believe will accept their 1.4 teleconverter that also works on the 40-150 2.8 Pro Lens. That would give you 420mm at 5.6 or a 35mm equivalent of 840mm

I looked on BH and it lists two seemingly identical versions of this same camera - only difference is the color in parentheses (Black) for $599, and the other (Red) for $649. What is the difference between red and black on the same camera? Could it be really just the color?

Yes

This is driving me crazy, I can't think of the right term to search under.

I have some battery-powered LED lights that have a hot-shoe flash adapter. However, I don't want to mount them on my camera, but on a vertical metal pole. What I need is a doohickey that will clamp onto the pole, rotate and lock as needed, and which has a fitting for the hot-shoe adaptor to slide into.

If you know what this is called, and maybe where to get it, I would be very grateful.

You used the term clamp. The name is Justin Clamp, named for the guy to first fabricate one. See an example here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=349147&Q=&is=REG&A=details

Very handy for mounting flash on doors, chairs, poles, shelves etc.

I hope I can explain this clearly. My goal is to mount my D810 on a tripod, an SB 910 in my hand (moving around) and an additional flash like the SB500 (or SB700) on a remote stand. I know that I can mount 3 Pocket Wizards and trigger my camera with my 478 light meter but it will not be TTL. I am led to believe that the Flex Pocket Wizard will allow me to shoot TTL. Do I have to have Flex PWs on all my equipment or can I mix and match? I have studied this to the point where I am confused and not thinking clearly. Can I get a 4th Pocket Wizard and use it as a remote trigger rather than my S 478? Is there a better system or method. Budget is not a consideration.

To use TTL on each flash you need 1 mini TT1 transmitter and 2 Flex TT5 receivers , one for each flash

yes, but i believe you will find that it is not a Nikon facility.

What I love about this site is that anyone can saw what they want regardless of accuracy. Gotta love free speech

The facts:
Nikon Coolpix cameras are repaired by Nikon authorized service centers. If you send your Coolpix to Nikon in NY or CA, their two factory repair centers, they are sent to a Nikon Authorized Repair Facility.

ALL NIKON DLSR's sent to nikon Repair in CA or Melville NY ARE REPAIRED BY NIKON factory repair. NIKON EMPLOYEES. SO Bobee you can relax your lens is being Repaired by Nikon, not by an authorized repair facility.

BTW Ybor City is great place, Cuban food, bars and if you love cigars you are in heaven

Agreed. When this problem surfaced, the most thorough evaluations I could find said they would still "highly recommend" the D750, even with this problem.

Agreed and I would also after shorting with it for a month. Shooting portraits, basketball and Hockey
