I recently listed 1200+ acres in northern Arkansas, most of which is high fenced. A consideration for me was the realtor has an associate in his office who flies an drone to put video on their listings. They use a DJI Phantom 4. I negotiated to have him fly and video my fence lines so I can do any necessary repairs. Video has been created, now waiting on him to edit it.
I would think in rural real estate that video from a drone would be a plus but creating a business is another thing.
Udemy.com has a drone course on learning to fly and starting a business for $10.

I prefer to use a hardware solution for storing my photos. I use a CRU ToughTech Duo which is a two drive raid. The computer sees it as a single drive. Data is written to both drives. Every few days I insert a 3rd drive in the 2nd bay (hot swappable). The device automatically mirrors this drive.
At only one time I have two drives that are mirrored and a 3rd drive I can use as backup and store off site.
CRU Data port Duo is sold by B&H or online at cru-inc.com

If the zoo imported this duck from Africa, I would think it is a Hottentot Teal.

SpinRite is about $90 with money back if not satisfied. I recovered a friend's hard drive after she spent about $1000 with no luck. If you can hear the drive spinning try SpinRite. However, SpinRite only runs on a Windows or Linux machine.

I have used recertified drives over the years. I have noticed no difference in failure rates between new or recertified.

If the picture has download under it, I copy the URL and paste it to Jeffrey's Image Metadata Viewer in my browser. Requires no software. See: http://regex.info/exif.cgi

I have used them several times in the past. They have repaired or replaced iPhones, iPads and MacBooks under the accidental damage coverage. All dealings have been excellent.

I would remove ethernet connections, cable runs and internet provider from the picture. Since your machine has wifi connections, turn on the hot spot on your phone and connect via wifi. See if problem still exists.

My only complaint about the D750s I own is the relatively small buffer. I decided to see how much I could improve the recovery speed by using a relatively fast card. The short answer is: a great deal.

The cards: Samsung 128GB 80 MB/s v. SanDisk extreme pro 128GB 95 MB/s

The files: stored 14 bit NEFs in slot 1 and normal JPGs in slot 2

Shooting: For both brands I shot at “high continual” till the buffer was full and the timed how long the buffer took to empty. The greater number of shots reflects how quickly the buffer emptied while shooting.

The results:
Samsung: 11 shots and 15 seconds.
SanDisk: 21 shots and 5 seconds

Conclusion: For me, the Sandisk cards eliminates my complaints about the D750’s smaller buffer.

I have used SpinRite by GRC.com for years. If the drive will still spin, it can probably recover it. Buy it, try it, if not satisfied they will refund no questions asked. Will need a windows or linux machine to run it.

It's a Western Digital. They'll take it back and give me a new one, but I just discovered I'm missing some important photos that aren't on my iMac or in Time Machine. (Grrrrrrrr.) Any recovery suggestions or companies you've been happy with?

If you have to continue to run windows, install GDX control panel. It turns off this unwanted windows 10. Works on win 7 & 8.

A word of caution....and Thankfully I caught it on time, I run Win 7 on all my computers and refuse to up to Win 10 (won't go into why not, to long a story) so anyway, as everyone else I keep getting the pop up reminders to upgrade and I continue to uninstall the installer (KB3035583 update file) But unless you turn off auto update window, it will return. Well this morning I turn on my monitor, (I never shut down my network) and to my surprise Windows 10 installed itself overnight... I woke to a screen asking if I was who I am and accept or decline the install...I answered No and declined... So my machine rolled back and restored my computer back to Window 7 but took an hour....so beware, they are pushing ....BYW, there is no one that uses my computer but me and I know I didn't okay the install. There is a few articals about unauthorized upgrades, so beware if your one who doesn't want Win 10.

Last night I was trying to copy a DVD via DVDclone on my small LG external CD/DVD writer. The original DVD was of a programme I had recorded from the BBC and recorded on my Panasonic DVD recorder.

DVDclone read the DVD perfectly but then refused to copy it on to a vigin DVD disc.

Frustrated and thinking that the writer had finally broken, I ordered a new one. However, this morning, out of curiosity, I tried an original DVD in the writer again and it worked!!
If using USB on the writer, sometimes changing USB ports helps.
How come? Anyone give an explanation?

I have the same laptop that I use for Lightroom and Final Cut Pro. It does a good job. However, 256GB of storage is not much and it cannot be upgraded. I have purchased several refurbished from Apple, you get same warranty as a new one.

Is this a good system to have:
MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Quad-core Intel i7 with Retina Display
15.4-inch (diagonal) Retina display; 2880-by-1800 resolution at 220 pixels per inch
16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory
256GB PCIe-based flash storage1
720p FaceTime HD Camera
Intel Iris Pro Graphics

It is a refurb from the apple site.

I've only ever used PC's, but I've heard so much about Apple being better for photography editing.

Thoughts?
