I had a kit lens that did a good job. The kit lens is put in the package to enable the purchaser to take shots immediately. When I buy a camera today I want just the body as I have better lenses than are going to come in a kit.
I've gotten interested in the back button focus function as described in several posts here. I used the sequence of menu steps for the 6D as described in Canon's online article on the subject. Then, tried to use it. No dice. Pushing the AF-ON button did absolutely nothing. The shutter button continued to do the focus when depressed half way.
Am I missing something? Anyone else have a 6D and set up the back button focus function? I shutter (no pun intended) to think I have to send the body to Canon for this.
Heeeeelp!

Sometimes a pun is intended and they are often the best kind.
I have the 18-270 and it is a great lens for the price. It isn't perfect but it doesn't cost thousands either. I don't have soft edges and I have had some bad Sigma's and some Canon's too that I won't recommend.Just my 2cents.
I have the 7D and I love it but the 1DMkIII is a better camera. I'm not sure about the prices being the same as the 1D III is more expensive everywhere I've looked.
There are so many great old cameras out there for prices one could have only dreamt of when the units were in their prime. Have fun with your collection.
Correct, corrective element is to focus to infinity, will degrade image quality, isn't needed for macro and costs more. Just go with the plain old milled adapter with no corrective lens, go out and shoot some macro, and enjoy....
